Rijksmuseum Volkenkunde 2014 – King Yaxun B’alam IV


Yaxun B’alam IV of Yaxchilan (now Mexico), also known as Bird Jaguar IV, ruled from 752–768 AD. On this lintel he is depicted after he has made a blood sacrifice by piercing his penis. This lintel was made in 766 AD.
