The Boob Dentist - 20 August 2016

I must admit to having been rather taken aback when I first caught sight of this machine at SeaCity Museum, Southampton. It is one of several amusement machines restored for use at the museum and is called a Mutoscope. It showed moving pictures to one person at a time and was regarded, in the 1920s, as slightly risqué.

The word 'boob' appears in several Chaplin escapades and refers to a 'dummy' or inept person.
