Liverpool has a long association with the Superlambanana (also SuperLambBanana) since it was designed by Japanese artist Taro Chiezo [千恵藏 太郎]. He created only a four inch model and the full size replica was made by artists Andy Small, Julian Taylor, Tommy Reason and Ray Stokes for the 1998 ArtTransPennine Exhibition.
Since then, notably in 2008 and 2010, numerous smaller, 2m high, replicas have been made. This example is on floor 5 of the Queen Square Car Park, Liverpool.
