Christmas Love

Christmas Love was created from a series of images purchased from Shutterstock® that were used to create an abstract digital painting. The colors and images each reflect a portion of scripture. “For unto you is born this day… a Savior” [Luke 2:11] is captured by the nativity scene featuring Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.

The dominant red colors and background heart are used to indicate that the Savior’s birth was the incarnation of absolute, unconditional, divine love since “God is Love” [1 John 4:8 and 16]. The dark cross on the left side indicates the future crucifixion of Jesus, a selfless act to save all creation since “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” [John 15:13]. The Christmas tree on the right symbolizes eternal life since through the crucifixion and ultimate resurrection with its omnipotent power, death has been defeated, each of us has been saved and salvation is universal.

Because of this, Christmas is selfless love and through the exchange of gifts we can share a tiny portion of divine generosity and love as we remember the significance of this first Christmas day when humankind hopelessly lost.
