Goddess of the harvest, agriculture, fertility, and sacred law, the mother of Persephone, a fertility goddess and resurrection deity.
Persephone was kidnapped by Hades, the god of the underworld. As a sign of loyalty, he gave her some pomegranate seeds.
And so that Demeter would not miss, the gods of Olympus let Persephone go to her mother for one third of the year.
