One of the quirks in ipernity is that if it doesn't understand the date in the EXIF it applies the date of upload. Of course we have neither steam nor snow at the moment! Date is now corrected!

Ah, I (just) remember that service on the "Swift & Delightful" - I travelled from Bath Green Park down to Bournemouth, going on holiday as a very young kid (not even sure if my little brother was more than a twinkle in Dad's eyes at the time). The tunnels on the climb out of Bath were notorious ...

Not being from that area I had never seen these locomotives in BR days. My memories are of the industrial north, and of course the Welsh narrow gauge.. Of course I have read of the smoke filled tunnels when excursion after excursion passed through....

I recall that these locos had the nickname "Spamcans" from the 'air-smoothed' casing. I'm not sure if it was meant as a compliment.

Well remember the Pines express Peter, we lived a few yards from Bridgwater North Station on the old S&D branch so a trip to Bath and beyond was relatively easy,
