Peter_Private_Box club has replied to Sarah O' clubThank you so much for your very kind visit.
I am so happy that you like the scene.
Steve and I went to this viaduct a couple of years back to see Flying Scotsman crossing it, but it was too cloudy to get a decent shot from that same position, so, (along with a few other people) we tried something different.
Best Wishes, (slightly late) HFF, and a Good Weekend,
Peter

I'm happy that you had a good look!!
I don't know if these new fangled devices actually fit on proper tripods!!
Best Wishes, (slightly late) HFF, and a Good Weekend,

A wonderful moment indeed!
A nice steam locomotive, a beautiful viaduct and a fence ..
You have done a wonderful frame again! Always I like to see some person in this kind of pictures. Adds meaning.
HFF!!

Certainly it was an interesting couple of days.. K&WVR the previous day, and NVR later.
I totally agree with you about the gentleman.. I could have removed him, but that would have just left an empty expanse of green, and the fence as a barrier.. I tried to get a diagonal balance, and I am so happy that you have noticed and appreciated it!
Best Wishes for the weekend, and a slightly late HFF,
Love Peter

I just checked my originals of this, and while there were a few other people in the field, there was only this gentleman in the actual picture. Rather than photoshop him out, I reckon leaving him there looked far more interesting...!
Best Wishes, (slightly late) HFF, and a Good Weekend,
Peter

Glad you like it. I'm not sure if they make tripods for these new fangled tablet things!
We do still run steam hauled excursion trains in England from time to time, and when we do there is usually a lot of people out to photograph them!
Best Wishes, (slightly late) HFF, and a Good Weekend,

Peter_Private_Box club has replied to Karen's Place clubThank you for visiting!
I'm happy that you had a good look!!
Looking back at the sequence of pictures from the day, I think he is trying to capture a video sequence of a tablet device, and maybe they don't make tripods for tablet devices...
I kind of thought that leaving him in the picture gave a better sense of the day, and I'm glad you noticed!
Best Wishes, (slightly late) HFF, and a Good Weekend,
Peter

This is one of the longest viaducts we have in the country, and very popular when steam trains cross it!

A terrific shot! The steam/smoke against the grey sky looks great! A belated HFF and I wish you a good and sunny weekend.
Regards, Rosa.
Peter_Private_Box club has replied to Rosalyn Hilborne clubThank you so much for your very kind visit.
I'm pleased that you have enjoyed it!
Just a couple of minutes after the train went, so did the cloud, and we had bright blue sky!
Best Wishes, (slightly late) HFF, and a Good Weekend,
Peter
Peter_Private_Box club has replied to Steve Paxton clubThank you so much for the thought here!!
Interestingly, the official English warning sign for "Level crossing without barrier or gate ahead" is still a steam locomotive, very similar to this one.
Maybe one day, when all the diesel fuels have been banned, then steam locomotives will return!
Have a great weekend!
Best Wishes
Peter
A different angle on the viaduct here and a rather good vantage point it looks .. sorry i missed this when posted for HFF but pleased i have found it now :))
Saved in fav's with a YS for sure
Best wishes ... Steve
Peter_Private_Box club has replied to SteThank you for visiting. I am pleased that you like this view. When I arrived there, I tried the field we went to, but the view was very misty, and shooting directly into the sun. After going all that way, I figured it too risky, so looked for a different place.
Best wishes
Peter
Deeply charmed by this masterly image so deep in its perspective and nonetheless so perfectly and neatly detailed : the viaduct and the train and its stream of white smoke against the dark grey ski at the end of the green field where a solitary gentleman in fully immersed in catching a photo..
Terrific mood , too
I missed it last Friday, and I 'm really sorry about it:But now I'm greatly enjoying it!!!
Best wishes, Bea
Peter_Private_Box club has replied to Beatrice Degan(MARS) clubThank you for your visit, and such well thought out words!! This viaduct is one of the longest in England, and very many people came to see this excursion train cross it. Only one gentleman got in this picture, but there were a lot of people who didn't!!
I am so glad that you like it!!
Best wishes
Peter
