The house is indicated here (top right). It sits on the top of a ridge and commands extensive views over the countryside of the Jarama Valley and the distant Sierra de Guadarrama. It also affords views of some spectacular weather!

I confess to not doing it every day but I make up for it by adding other flights of steps to this one on the odd day, turning 98 steps into over 300, separated by walks on the flat in between so I do get a chance to get my breath back! It seems to be doing the trick for my legs; please see my reply to Gabi below!
Many thanks, Sarah!

A house with a view! Congrats for doing the steps twice;-) I'd manage going up but down is hard on the knees...

They always used to tell me that in mountain walking groups - and I still don't see that walking downhill is harder than walking up! Not in my book, anyway!! :o)

You are a sucker for punishment by the sound of it! I feel exhausted just thinking about those steps!! Still, the view from your house would be a compensation.

Thank you Eunice. I can't say it's my house. My sister bought it from her hard earned and deserved retirement moneys. She was the office manager at a well known pharma company and was the longest serving member of staff and basically ran the day to day operations of it single-handedly. (She's been asked to return countless times!)
Her retirement package was deservedly handsome, enabling her to put down a goodly deposit!

This road and style of houses could also be here in Britain as you know Andy. As Eunice above says, steep roads and even steeper flight of steps for you. Is that good? Perfect exercise or exhaustion? Anyway, as you say, great views from up there and as far as I can tell, it is only doing you good.

Keep cool, from a hot England.. Herb

I doubt your temps are hitting 40 just yet, Herb! My exercises take on a whole different hue in this heat (red, mainly as in red of face and sunburn - but I do take precautions of course!)

Absolutely spot on, Gabi!
My girlfriend has always liked my legs (I'm pleased to say!) and puts it down to my years of rock climbing and mountain walking and I think she could be right.
But when I suffered from a bad case of Covid 2 years ago, I woke up after a 2 month long induced coma in intensive care to find that my legs had become like two sticks of month old celery and it's taken me 18 months to get the strength back in them. A lot of hard work and it has to continue!
At least my girlfriend likes them again! :o)

The houses look really lovely, Andy. I must admit I do love the views from your sister's house - stunning sights, especially when there is a storm on its way. I must say that to go up 98 steps AND back again twice sounds horrendous to me. I can't manage my 22 stairs in my home, I have to crawl up them instead. After what you've been through though - I admire it so much.

Jenny, believe me it's the memory of me doing 10 steps with a frame and having to rest for two whole days afterwards that stays firmly in my mind. I appreciate just how very lucky I am that I am able to regain strength in my legs as I never, at one time, thought I would. I read the posts from the likes of you and, of course Fred, and I realise how very very lucky I have been in being allowed the possibility of a recovery of sorts. Believe me, I'm ever so grateful. and I feel ever so humble.
