View from the dining room window.
Today was a relief in that the recent calima (Saharan dust cloud), and the smoke from the wild-fires in Portugal and Western Spain finally cleared, leaving a lovely view for the first time in about a week!
Perhaps better on full screen.
Added extra little titbit (I'm not American so it's titbit OK?); bottom left hand corner of the shot is the top of a pot of basil. Usually they last 1 to 2 weeks and then they expire and you buy another on your next shop (very cheap). But this hardy little bugger has been happily thriving for a couple of months now - almost to the point when I'll have to think up a name for it as it has almost become part of the family! Any suggestions for a name? Please let me know!!

I COULD SIT THERE ALL DAY ...
PLEASE TELL YOUR SISTER 'HELLO' FROM NORTH CAROLINA US. I SHALL WAVE REALLY HARD...
'Sir' is good. Armando has suggested LL (for Long Life). I'll be as fair as I can be and ask it which it prefers when I water it in the morning!
best of wishes, stay well and healthy, AND Happy :).... Sarah
Andy Rodker club has replied to Sarah O' clubPleased your youngest son has got over it now; what a relief that must have been!
'Happy' is a good choice, but I'm still undecided. As I say, I'll wait a day or two and put a range of options to it and ask which one it prefers!
Andy Rodker club has replied to Gillian Everett clubI'm tending to think that way; keeping it simple.
I might even shorten it to 'Bas' as it seems to be part of the family now and it might appreciate the familiarity!
Bonne journée. Amitiés

Tanja - Loughcrew club has replied to Andy Rodker clubAndy Rodker club has replied to Tanja - Loughcrew club* ઇઉ * club has replied to Tanja - Loughcrew clubAndy Rodker club has replied to * ઇઉ * clubIt has always been problematic. Apparently it's a corrollery of its popularity. I`m a dab hand with kitchen herbs and spices but not normally with basil. Nurseries that grow it have effectively altered its genetic equilibrium so that long - lived varieties have been bred out of existence.
No profit in sustainable basil of course!
* ઇઉ * club has replied to Andy Rodker clubThere are still some annual or biennial basil species, but even these will probably have to give way to profiteering at some point. :((
Andy Rodker club has replied to tiabunna clubAndy Rodker club has replied to Ulrich John clubAndy Rodker club has replied to Simone Maurel clubI have many good recipes for basil, often the best are the simplest such as yours. My favourite is a very popular one and is Italian; mozzarella cheese, very good ripe tomato, basil and. Modena balsamic vinegar.
I like the idea of your long-lasting Basil plant...........I think you should have called it Sybil (if you know, you know)!
Andy Rodker club has replied to Keith Burton clubI thought about that first of all but decided, rightly I think, that there is probably a majority of members who would need an explanation for it not to be worthwhile!
Better than Manuel though, even if it's a faint pissibolity that 'Bas' came from Barcelona!
Keith Burton club has replied to Andy Rodker clubAndy Rodker club has replied to Pierre Pasqualini clubAndy Rodker club has replied to Gary Benson (grbenso…As a side issue, I have an interest in wine and it saddens me how many famous vineyards in the Western USA and Australia have to write off grape harvests due to fire or smoke taint.
Best greetings

Andy Rodker club has replied to gezginruh clubAndy Rodker club has replied to Josiane Dirickx clubMy pots of basil from the supermarket never last that long but then I am pretty adept at even killing a cactus! Bas sounds as good as it gets, but my first thought was Sybil, - she could probably also kill the same cactus with just a glance!! Hope Bas lasts a good while, especially now it has a name!!
Andy Rodker club has replied to Ecobird clubOthers thought of Sybill and of course that was my first choice but I didn't give it as a possibility because of the explanations required for our non Anglo members!
Fortunately (or perhaps unfortunately - I'm not lazy but I appreciate the time for physical recovery) I'm not working at the moment but I do a lot of cooking and the stove, etc. face the other way, otherwise the distractions from this view would lead to burning things I'm sure!
Thank you, Carol - Yes it is one heck of a view, especially so close to a major city (we're only about 15 miles from Madrid city centre, which, as you can probably guess, is in the other direction!)
Hopeful FF & WE
