Oh wow, that looks like it was some rainfall. I'm not surprised you lost some garden furniture and I hope your neighbours swapped yours for theirs!!!! LOL. Still it's probably been well received from the drought hit fields.

Yes, we exchanged furniture and other bits and bobs all within 10 minutes! The rain was sharp but short and everything was dry in minutes. It would have made no difference to the drought conditions, unfortunately!

The more I look at that rainstorm from a distance, the more it DOES look like a tornado, Carol!

I would have to say it does look very much like a tornado. I think you are lucky it caused more disruption than damage, and the photo is amazing! I love the light and the green figs in the foreground. The sky is awesome

Yes, I occasionally watch tornado chasers on their vids and it frightens the life out of me. But not once in this event did I think it was on a par with Tornado Alley.

The vegetable patch didn't suffer at all! While the storm passed over, it really did seem like the roof would be torn off - and looking at the shape of the cloud it does look a bit like a tornado!

Many years ago, on my way to work, I witnessed a tornado over London somewhere.
The funnel looked a lot narrower and taller than your here.
But, as they say in court, I wasn't there, I don't know!

I think I saw one on the verge of ripening! I can't wait ... I love figs and even though I was expressly forbidden them (alongside pineapple, cherries, bananas and grapes) due to diabetes, I make an exception for them and just compromise elsewhere. I'm actually very good - my endocrinologist can't believe I follow diabetic diets and do appropriate exercises, etc. because apparently none of her other (Spanish) patients can be bothered!

Mes figues (fleurs) sont déjà presque toutes mangées
et les figues fruit sont bien en avance cette année,
je pense déjà pouvoir en manger fin septembre cette année
Andy j'ai un figuier qui fait fin juin début juillet d'abord des figues fleurs assez grosses
et après suivent les figues fruits que l'ont peut aussi faire sécher (pas le figues fleurs)
regardes cette photo

tu vois bien la grosseur de mes figues fleur actuellement celle du milieu toute verte encore, est la figue fruit qui sera mûre bien plus tard

In England, I had various fig trees in different gardens over the years and I recall that in the main, they ripened either in July or in September, dependant on the species. The ones in my photo won't be ripe for a few more weeks yet but I am looking forward to them, even though I shouldn't eat them due to diabetis!
