It's an artifical lawn. No real lawn could survive the summers here without copious amounts of water and that is forbidden for obvious reasons!

Your brother-in-law has done very well with that vegetable garden. Lots of fresh veggies soon eh? It's a lovely view from that balcony

I think we've had most of them already, Jenny!
Copious amounts of courgettes, aubergines, red and green peppers, cucumbers, onions of all types. garlic. leeks, cherries, gooseberries (a rarity in Spain but he was inspired by my Mother's fruit patch in her London garden of old), apricots, almonds, plums (similar to our greengages but even sweeter!), apples and pears ... and I'm sure I've forgotten something! The tomatoes will be a damp squib this year - maybe a handful only whereas in most years they have to freeze the vast part of a massive crop! At least there is still much of last year's frozen tomatoes to get through so it's not a total diaster, but a puzzle nonetheless!
Yes, it's the guest bedroom balcony and the views from it are the best in the house because it is higher up. I have posted a couple from here in the past and perhaps I will start doing so again. You certainly get a bit more of the mountain range in view, although of course not in this particular shot!

Yes, my sister is adept at keeping a spotless and attractive house, and my brother-in-law is much the same in the garden!

They do it very well!
I bought some apricots yesterday expecting them to be from Spain, and they were grown in Kent! They are delicious....that's global warming for you I guess!

We have three freezers full of veg and fruit from the past couple of years, and that is despite giving loads of it away!

Thank you, Peter. Almost everything else but funnily enough, no grapes!
There are a coupleo f vines but they don't do anything. Wrong soil probably, although historically, Algete was renowned for it's wines, supplying Madrid - but that was in the 16th century. Today, no wine is made here, at least not comercially!

Mind you, I'm not complaining - in the summer it is often the only room to enjoy a cool breeze!

...your advantage, Andy, you sleep in the comfort f your room and, on the other extreme of the house, you can enjoy your sight...

In theory, yes. In practice it's just watching my brother-in-law as he potters around his vegetable plot! The family normally use the upper garden which is on the other side of the house!
