Misery! Calima strikes again!
Calima:- Saharan dust storm. What should have been a glorious, if hot, day totally ruined by what has become a far too frequent occurance! The temperature was 39ºC so not even any let up from the heat! Miserable indeed!
For the complete gloomy effect, best on full screen!

Andy Rodker club has replied to Paulo Moreira clubThank you, Paulo.
I moved to Madrid in 2010. I didn't recall, or even hear about, 'Calima' until a couple of years ago at most. Maybe because I was living in the centre of Madrid then and weather phenomena aren't so visible among the appartment blocks.
But, since moving to Algete and with amazing scenery from where I now live, I can attest to the fact that I've experienced at least 10 such incidents these past two years!
Andy Rodker club has replied to BoroI would have thought that impaired visibility wouldn't be best advice for drivers!

Andy Rodker club has replied to Doug Shepherd clubGood evening and I hope tomorrow is better.
Andy Rodker club has replied to Rosalyn Hilborne clubAndy Rodker club has replied to Jenny McIntyre clubIn a normal hot summer, the windows and shutters are closed from mid morning to very late at night. They are only opened between about 1 or 2 am and 10 am. Otherwise the heat penetrates the house! When I first came here, that was counter-intuitive to me and I always got it wrong!! (Like in England I was forever opening the windows during the day to let in some fresh air! WRONG!!!! I soon learnt!)
And you are so right about the calima and the dusting!
The soil in Central Spain leads to very fine dust in the air anyway so dusting needs doing daily! With this calima business, dusting is needed almost every hour, food needs covering at all tmes, and so on and so forth!
Andy Rodker club has replied to J. Gafarot clubThank you, José!
Superb capture and image, Andy!

Thank you, Ann!
Andy Rodker club has replied to ROL/Photo clubThe other issue is the sudden increase in forest fires, a month earlier than usual. Again, I hope you are spared those!
Best wishes,
Andy
