Hanging rock. Sierra de La Cabrera.

Hanging rock. Sierra de La Cabrera.
Seeing as we will be off-line tomorrow at some point, and for between 24 and 48 hours, I wonder if this large boulder will have tumbled inbetween times? :o)

Well ... rock. - Rock and roll, this rock about to roll off ... or maybe not. But the origin of true rock and roll with Little Richard, respect and R.I.P.
I think I have to wait another hour or so as I forgot I posted another to the group last night too!

It's amazing how that rock is still standing there - any more erosion and soon it'll topple over.

Actually
It's a bit of a con. This is man made, the residue from a granite quarry from 200 or more years ago. This granite stone paved the streets of Madrid.

A great balancing rock and it's still there. Maybe because it seems ipernity wasn't long offline! :-) A great tribute to Little Richard too.

You really know how to find these rocks that are balanced and don't want to roll!
Lovely composition, Andy.

Thank you, Eric!
It's only because I systematically explored every corner of this Sierra between 2011 and 2015 that I found them! I used to come here twice a week for ten hour walks (I got fit and lost a lot of weight and also cured myself of diabetes 2, temporarily).

Probably since left there by quarriers, perhaps 2-300 years ago? ... Or much more.
