Porthcadjack - The South West Peninsula Coast Path
This is a note about 3 paths!
The new-ish path is the stepped zig-zag one, an 80s creation and it helped to stabilise the much worn slopes here. The original path went straight up to the right of the zig-zag and is only faintly visible, not the one to the left, which is the creation of impatient recent walkers.
Now that the original path has recovered from the severe erosion, I risk being naughty and sometimes take this direct path as I can't do any damage if I am the only walker who takes this route (for nostalgia's sake only, you understand!).
When I was trying to get fit after giving up smoking, I used to run up the zig-zag path and then trot back down, and then do it again. My record was 6 times repeatedly and I got fit in no time! Then I moved to Spain, got a teaching job, walking in the hills became less and less frequent and I soon became unfit again! :o(
