Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes

The sand dunes at Mesquite Flat near Stovepipe Wells in Death Valley are one of several such areas in the park. The other dunes are much less easily accessible but these lie right along the main road. They are one of the best places in the park for photos, especially at sunrise or sunset, and walking and climbing the dunes is encouraged (people are visible in some of the inset photos). The mountains are part of the Amargosa Range.
