Scaphosepalum merinoi

Scaphosepalum merinoi
This odd orchid is only a few inches tall, has flower spikes over a foot long and these rather small flowers with long "horns," something that is typical of the flowers in this genus. They are also upside down as orchids go, though most orchids turn up-side-down which is right-side-up before they bloom (everyone followed that, I hope). This doesn't, doesn't turn over, that is. The flower spikes are also covered with "warts" and continue to produce individual flowers over a long period of time. That makes this odd, to say the least, but the buds are even odder. I'll let you all wait with drooling anticipation for a picture of those, however..
