My answer was, "Yep."
She had a friend chop her hair off, against her mother's firm wishes. This caused a big uproar at her house. There is no exaggerating how terrible her hair looked (think "styling by chainsaw"). Children of the Daniel Kirima family. Kenya, farmland northeast of Nairobi. The building behind them is the barn for their milk cows. To the right of it (out of the shot) was a tiny hut for cooking, just a few yards from the house.
