It looks like nice, flat walking there Herb...............I like the overhanging trees and the carpet of wet fallen leaves.

Yes its our local walk. It only goes a mile or so before we get to road bash again but there are two other diversions we can take, that give us extra milage so to speak. It is mostly fairly flat Glad you liked this one.

Haha, trust you to notice that typo Pete. You are quite right of course its our old favourite railway line we are walking on. I still remember the rusty steam engines trudging down here from the centre of Oldham to our Lees Engine shed where my pal's father worked as a fireman - I think they were Austerity 2-8-0s replacing the earlier Fowler 0-8-0s.

What a lovely lane, perfect for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. It reminds me of 'my' old railway line, now without tracks. HBM Herb.

If you have one (a lane) like this, then you are lucky as in many places the track and remains of where it was has disappeared for ever. In Britain, we have many old railway lines that have been converted to walking/cycling trails. Perfect for more people as they are easy to navigate, have no high fences or stiles to climb and are flat. This section here, only 15 minutes walk from my home is particularly beautiful in certain conditions. Glad you liked it.

In France, only the important lines between the big cities were preserved and all the small railway lines were removed. Most of them became walking and cycling trails. We are lucky to live near one of these. I have already posted some photos of it. This is one of my favorites.
