The Wonders of Mallorca: Port de Sóller- Mountain view

The Wonders of Mallorca: Port de Sóller- Mountain view
Taken from across the bay from almost the same spot as shown in the PiP. This shows some of the impressive rock that abounds on this island, it is composed mostly of Limestone but there is also dolomitic rock ( a sedimentary carbonate rock that contains a high percentage of the mineral dolomite).
A great demonstration here that Majorca is much more than the popular conception of just packed tourist beaches.

Enjoy full size,

This scene will have been the same for many years. As the trams run along the sea-front the majestic background adds real flavour when seen from this part of the bay. (Where our hotel was.)

Thanks for the visit Isabel. Herb

A beautiful backdrop for the town Herb. A small island that has so much to see, as you are showing in this beautiful series..
Cheers, Rosa.

I also visited this island more than 40 years ago. I do hope they did not build too much there !!

Hi Marie-claire. Soller and Port de Soller are almost untouched by modern development but I can't say the same for other places. that being said, most of the Island parts that we saw still looked very traditional.

What a magnificent view............the mountain tops look very impressive and contrast nicely will the greens and browns of the trees and grasses in the foreground. A cracking shot Herb.

Beautifully taken, Herb, with the PiP showing the value of looking at the background setting.
