Busselton Jetty - The Real "Big One".

Busselton Jetty - The Real "Big One".
We went on the Brother in laws bus for a trip for the day down to Busselton for breakfast and Lunch in the Park. On the way down I went on the internet just how long is the jetty I got quite a shock.

Having Walked the jetty with my parents 2005 note the big change to the whole jetty.

I asked two of the brother in law Who is up for a train ride. For the cost of $16 dollars and all proceeds to the up keep of the jetty its a no brainer.

you think its short but in reality 1841 m long the longest in the Southern Hemisphere but only "dwarfed" by Southend Pier 2158m long only 310m longer. Just love the note on the sign " you are out to Sea".

Its good to see the end of the pier fixed up and now part of the Whole last time I walked out it was just the stumps of the legs.

The trip home was a real eye opener on the bend.

Just how the Train works its a truck with tyres but has railway wheels to follow the tracks and you can see why it does not travel fast as the bend the railway wheels hang off the Track as it follows the bend.

Busselton Jetty

This is looking from shore out to the jetty where it was originally from but for the train you will not an almost straight line out to the end.

A great series and background information, Steve. So good that the jetty was restored to remain one of the "big things".

Hi Steve
A very nice set of picture, which I like very much!
Wonderful and interesting story. The railway track looks in such a shocking state of disrepair, and the added risk of a derailment going into the sea... You really wanted to ride this!!!
Great colours too
Best Wishes, HFF, a nice weekend, and stay safe!!

Peter have no fear that was the tracks 2005 pre being fixed up properly after a very long time of no use. the tracks are relaid and straight but for the bend in the jetty as you can see by the main photo. yes we walked out to the end the only way out in 2005 no train and no railing on one side but that has all been rectified. that does not mean it was a totally smooth ride but it certainly was not like the track of 2005.

you have a great weekend..

Such an interesting set of photos.Steve. It's good to know that the tacks have been repaired. I cannot quite read how many miles it is to London.

to London is 14518 km i think it's great that the old wreck was given a second life and not left to just fall into the sea.
