December 9, 2021
Yesterday evening there was a temporary server failure. Luckily, Rob and Stefan managed to fix it in a fairly short time without need to spend money for professional help.
The underlying cause was that one of the two front-end servers had to be stopped because the Amazon Web Service (AWS) had reported hardware errors. During the subsequently scheduled manual reboot, of course our current software version should be used by the new hardware. Unfortunately, the AWS system automatically restarted the replaced hardware by using an old backup of the ipernity software. This outdated backup had to be replaced manually by the current version, which took some time.
We apologise for the temporary inconvenience.
raingirl club has replied to William Sutherland clubWe still have to reject a decidedly too high percentage of the proposals for our homepage due to serious deviations from the said guidelines.
This is more than a shame, as the requirements are by no means too high.
Bergfex club has replied to * ઇઉ * clubI consider the submission of properly prepared images to be a sign of appreciation. Thank you.
* ઇઉ * club has replied to Bergfex clubI'd like to recommend sending your description of the workload for non-compliant proposals as the core content of a "Message of Hope" to that majority of the members of the group "Ipernity homepage - picture proposals" who permanently disregard the layout guidelines, if they ever have read them at all. ;)
If the layout guidelines continue to be disregarded by the majority of group members, I'd like to recommend reconsidering and possibly revising the decision to use members' own photos/works for our ipernity homepage.
Certainly, there are also other options to reduce the excess of non-guideline compliant proposals due to the unacceptably high post-processing effort, but I'd like to share ideas about this with you outside of Club News at the appropriate time.
