    - 206 visits
We have a volunteer in the house. Gemma's boyfriend Aaron is decorating Ellen's room for her when he is not busy.He stripped wallpaper last night, today he starts painting. Yesterday was the coldest Easter Sunday on record here and today feels even colder. I was going to try for a first cut on the grass but the ground was frozen when I tested it earlier and besides it is too damn cold out there. Here is a photo of an Eider Duck I snapped yesterday on my walk Fact o…

  • A trip over the bridge

    - 205 visits
The day is a little like the curates egg but I decided to chance it and wander over to do some food shopping. I have a £10 voucher from Iceland so that was my first call. Bargains galore today and of course a £10 start. I booked the shopping to be delivered at 1:00 and sauntered over to B&M looking for bird nuts and fat balls for my feathered friends. I picked up a couple of treats fig biscuits and Vienna whirls before heading for the channel side and home. I little detour to the north extended…

The rain is sweeping through in heavy showers, just my luck with a trip to the doctors this morning. I manged to get there dry and my results were good. Blood pressure and cholesterol is fair but my BMI is still on the high side but improving. it is at 26 and should be under 25 still it's down from 28 six months ago. I need to lose 10lb but the weather has been so bad this year I have hardly been walking, still an Indian summer will see me to my target. I watched a programme on the Tower of Londo…

  • Back from the numpty house

    - 205 visits
I managed to survive a trip to see the strange couple. After I hid all the pointy things and made sure they were safe we settled down to an afternoon of talking rubbish with the odd scoop thrown in for good measure. We talked of days of yesteryear when our bodies and minds were in better nick than now and the subject of their family from hell was thankfully kept to a minimum. Talking to friends and asking about their families is good in most circumstances but not with these two and their evil of…

  • computer move

I am having a busy day here. This morning I decided it was time to move my computer back along the wall to the window looking into the garden, the garden is a mess of course but it's a great place for bird watching while I breakfast.I had made my mind up to bring the glass topped table from the kitchen in,put it in situ then transfer everything to it which I did.I had to empty and remove the top from the table to get it through the door. Everything was shifted over and plugged in and that was…

Another rainy day here so I am cabined up with 2 cats. Ellen has a break from work from Friday until Tuesday so after work today she is going straight to the station and spending a long weekend with Colin. This means I will be cooking and eating what Ellen calls my weird stuff. For weird read cooked with herbs and or spices. I went to the chemist to pick up my meds earlier and took a couple of snaps of the George Hotel, this 100 year old building is being demolished and the site cleared for hou…

  • Cabined up again and eggy bread for supper

The rain has lashed down again today leaving me stuck inside. It seems an absolute age since I got a walk along the beach. I had a rethink about the fittings for the hob and think I have it right now, but tomorrow is another day and it is not unknown for me to change course on projects as a better idea comes to mind. Thinking and planning apart I have done very little, I even watched a little footie on the goggle box, thankfully the egg chasers are back next week so I won't have to watch the ove…

  • Noisy birds at breakfast, more work done in the garden and a chicken

    - 203 visits
I took a little video of the noisy starlings having breakfast, they are hooligans at feeding time. I managed to get some more tidying up done in the front garden and a little in the back . Of course I can't attack the rough area I was on yesterday because the little frog is in residence. I am searching for a couple of suitable stones to put there for him. One of my neighbours called round before and asked me if I could use a small roast chicken sans breasts. It seems her and hubby only eat th…

  • I am a happy bunny today.

I am a happy bunny today. A lot of you will know I like watching sport on the goggle box, mostly the egg chasers. Well I have been trying to find a live feed to watch the games I don't get on my TV set up. Up until now they have all been fiddly, want to put their own task and search bars in and leave a lot of junk on the computer but at last I have struck gold. I found a site yesterday that is simple to use and junk free/ So after a trail run last night I decided to hook up my laptop to a TV. I…

  • The rain returns, a lodger on the way and today's fact

    - 201 visits
I looked around the garden yesterday and decided another dry day and a start was on the cards. The grass could have it's first cut and I could start tackling the weeds. This morning I awoke to rain of course so that job is on hold before it even starts. Later in the month I will have a lodger,my daughter Ellen is finally breaking up with her partner and cannot afford to keep up the rental payments on her place. This means she will be with me until she can bank enough to get a smaller place o…

  • Christmas is coming not the holiday is coming

    - 201 visits
Christmas is on the way,it is not called The Holiday it is called Christmas .We all know where the name comes from so why the name change in recent years? I am not a Christian but would not insult Christians by calling it any other thing but Christmas. We are I am told a tolerant society sensitive to other peoples view point so please show them some respect and crush the use of this horrible none name The Holiday which after all just means holy day so it is a pointless exercise anyway

We have beautiful day here at last, before yesterday we had pleasant afternoons but rain kept interfering, yesterday was horrible. Last week or a few giddy days of shirt and shorts weather, lunch and an evening beer on the lawn yesterday the change was coming. Even though it was sunny the temps dropped rom 80f to 60f with a cold breeze making it feel even coooler. Today as promised the rain has returned with a vengence and the central heating has kicked in. No let up until weekend at the earliest. GGGGRRRRR!!!!

    - 200 visits
I have spent a great deal of time in the garden today, not working just relaxing and reading. Sat on my little chair with an ice cold strong cider with a scoop of vanilla ice cream floating on the top was just the ticket. The neighbours were out in force so there was plenty of chat going on. this went well until early evening when we were invaded by flying ants, they are late this year due to the bad weather but picked a lousy time. The air was full of the little buggers we all had to go inside an…

I have all my photos set at copyright and this is plain on the pages despite this somebody I thought was a friend has posted a photo of mine featuring a young starling and passed it off as their own. It even still has my name and copyright sign on it If anybody wants to use my photos in non profit making ways I don't mind as long as I am credited with it. I am a little sad over this. Logging off for the night

Heavy overnight rain finally gave way to a brief spell of sunshine in late morning but the rain returned laye adternoon and it became very dark, then we had a very loud thunder storm rumble through. Before the rain returned I managed a little walk and the cats had a good frolic in the garden, although they did manage to get wet rolling in the grass. The high point of the day was getting my ears lowered which shows what an exciting day it's been.I had Ellen give me a convict cut because in winte…

  • The rain has stopped, freedom at last

After the two wettest days I can remember the rain is finally clearing and I can see the sky again. We have had floods along the promenade and on the mainland. There has been heavy flooding in town and the surrounding districts, some villages were cut off completely. A landslide cause rail delays just outside town and power cuts have been widespread and plentiful. Checking the weather outlook shows we are do a short dry spell until Sunday so I will be able to get out and about. An early lunch a…

It is my day yo visit my mother and I got a lift both ways from a neighbour which was good. when I returned the weather was still threatening sso I decided to cut as much of the grass as I could before it came. I got the front mowed and strimmed in quick time with no interuptions, then had lunch. After lunch the weather had improved greatly and the sun seemed to be winnig the weather battle and it did win in the end. I managed to cu…
