This week has been another busy one. I had my remainder of the eye test that was curtailed due to being sent to the emergency eye clinic. Sad to say, I need new lenses. Whilst the infection has gone, I’ve been left with some corneal scaring that will take time to heal and must use the lubricant more often. Both eyes look healthy, though my vision has deteriorated in both eyes. Bummer! I looked at new frames, and watched another customer pick up, and put back numerous frames despite being told not to; each frame we touch, needs to be sanitised. She put me right off! I picked up two frames, saw they had ‘bling’ on the arms and gave them back to the assistant to clean. There were frames with wide arms that look like I’d be wearing horse blinkers LMAO and the frames are getting bigger which is ‘fashionable’ now. The bigger the frame, the thicker the lenses will be at the edges. So, I stuck with my own frames and will take them back in a week for the new lenses to be put into them. It’s slightly cheaper that way anyway.
We were forecast high winds and boy did they show up! Wednesday, we all had a terrible night. Where I used to live, you had to put your bin back on your property after it had been emptied. Here, they don’t bother, and 3 wheelie bins had made friends with my car and they weren’t social distancing! Once I was up, I moved them away, left them lying down, but before I left for work, I noted another had slid across the pavement and was cosying up to my car again. It’s sheer laziness and makes the street look unsightly. Due to the layout here, I have to take my bin out the back gate and leave it in another street to be emptied. I always retrieve it as soon as possible and drag it back into my garden. No mean achievement due to the alley being partially blocked by a sofa, a mattress, a pushchair… People are pigs! Though that’s an insult to pigs… Saturday, and neighbours still haven’t retrieved their bins from where I piled them up.
These past 2 weekends the store has been so busy. Parents are bringing in their kids, young and older ones alike and I just want to scream at them, the parents not the kids. They should leave their kids at home where they will be safe IF someone else can look after them. So many customers are 2 grown-ups and they’re towing along 2, 3 and even 4 kids! I think people are becoming far too complacent; we’re still in a lock-down, and even though infection numbers are dropping, there’s still a pandemic out there! It’s like it’s some freaking jolly outing, going to the supermarket. Beggars belief…
Recently, I’ve been chasing a contract. I’ve been working at the same place over 9 months now, and the lack of a contract has been making me anxious. I mentioned to the supervisor that if I have to, or want to, move to a new house, then I’d need proof of a regular income. He said he’d investigate it, and true to his word, today I received a contract to sign. It’s a load off my mind, and that’s a fact. It didn’t persuade me enough to work on though LMAO. I’ve completed 14 hours overtime over 2 weeks, and today was asked if I could stay on. I replied not; I was shattered and reminded him of all the overtime I’ve done recently. It’s enough.
I now have a 4-day break, and man am I going to enjoy that! One of the days, I’m going to treat myself to a cooked breakfast. Another day we have brioche dough to bake. Anyway, not much planned, just some grocery shopping, cooking, baking, getting the exhaust checked out, collecting my new lenses, looking at a new microwave… Sounds a lot, but not really. Plenty of time for R&R, and hopefully a lie-in or 4 too lol.
Take care. Enjoy what’s left of the weekend.

Will the cornea eventually heal? Or are you stuck doing drops forever?
I've had to use eye drops since I had a 'thing' surgically removed from my eye many years ago. I had chemo-therapeutic drops then to prevent it from coming back, and they damaged the surface of the eye somewhat. Now they're very dry so need drops/gel many times a day. These new ones are stronger, and make my eye feel more comfortable. It's hoped this new scaring will heal within a few more weeks. I have another hospital check-up in a few months to see how it's progressing though most likely will need to have eye drops forever. Thank goodness I don't have to pay for them!
This is the time of year I miss work most. The lambs are here and they always cheered me up if I was called to a farm to kick life back into some farm machine or other
Lambs are so cute!
Yes, lots of stupid people still about; people who simply will not social distance, shopping in large groups, I could go on...
