I felt connected to the world simply because I could see so much it?
My usual Pentax DSLR lens is damaged so I used my reserve camera and the iPhone,
raingirl club has replied to Colin Ashcroft clubThat you actually walked for so long is a wonderful thing - and yes, isn't that one of the best ways to connect to our world?
I'm glad you had options for camera since your Pentax is damaged (hope it gets fixed soon!).

Just not my style unless I'm doing portraits, and even then i tend to take what is happening in the moment. I'm always impressed with people who have a pre-conceived idea.
raingirl club has replied to Annaig56 clubThe event is a celebration of the gift of photography and is intended to bring us all together in the joy of having that gift. The only requirement made to be included in the event is to have the photo taken on the day itself. We welcome all levels of ability.
I wonder if you have any suggestions for how we might structure the event differently next year.

Annaig56 club has replied to raingirl clubWHAT DREW ME TO THIS .. THE CAROUSEL HAS RECENTLY RETURNED. I HAVE BEEN BY THE AREA AS THE NEW 'HOME' FOR IT WAS BEING BUILT.
JUST GOING THERE IS SPECIAL.
THIS TIME WAS FOR PHOTOS - NEXT TIME I SHALL RIDE!
raingirl club has replied to Peggy C clubAs every day I went out with my camera and looked at the sky, it was windy and the lenticular clouds made shapes that, compressed with a little zoom, were a descriptive negation, a description of nothingness.
I spent a while looking at the images I had captured, picked one and cropped it to a square shape. I spent another while thinking about how I could explain the idea of no photography and I decided that This is not a pipe, by Magritte, with its surrealism was a little closer to my initial idea, so I decided to put it as a title, This is not a photograph. And to reaffirm the idea I saw that I could include the title in the same image as Magritte had also done in his painting.
While thinking about the text with which I would describe the image, I read the news of Andy Rodker's death, and I thought that Andy would have wanted to take photographs but, unfortunately, he couldn't. Is there anything more contradictory between not wanting and being able, and not being able and wanting? That's why I dedicated it to him.
I photograph to live (every day), not to remember. I live photography as a game, not as an art. I do not consider myself an artist (or a photographer) nor do I want to be one.
Every day is the international or world day of something, and I personally think that maybe it's not a bad idea, but it's not the best idea either.
raingirl club has replied to homaris clubWhat is it to "be" something? We exist (because we think?) and have infinite possibilities, and labels are confining, restrictive. If we are an 'artist', does that mean we are not a 'dabbler' or 'layperson', or and 'observer'? Of course not.
To celebrate something on a particular day for me is just a reminder to be present and be grateful. The desire is to live it and appreciate it fully each day, but life does tend to get in the way of that, and so I personally like the reminders. Thus I do this event for ipernity.
I think it's great that you contribute to this 'not a bad'/'not the best' event, and found your own way to make it work for you!

raingirl club has replied to Ruesterstaude clubI will work on adding information about the day in general to a discussion here. Thanks for bringing it up.
