Hi

As the new administrator here, I extend a big welcome to you all.

Although I don't live in or very near Cumbria, I have close relations in Kendal and have visited the Lakes on many occasions. This ties in very nicely with my love of landscapes and light. However, I know that the Lakes represents far more than that, and so, lets see any photos that represent all manner of nature and life in this beautiful part of our country.

I look forward to seeing your many new photos here. Feel free to add your ideas in this discussion too.

Best Wishes. Herb

I am a regular visitor to the Lake District over many years almost always Langdale in the middle of the year for the last 25 years and Patterdale much more often in Spring and Autumn over a longer period. These visits have almost always been limited to the local areas where I stay. I go by car but then the car hardly ever moves.

This makes me very aware of the areas that I have never seen or only seen once.

I guess most visitors get stuck in the same way most commonly visiting just Keswick or Ambleside or Bowness/Windermere or Coniston

The climbers go to the same areas to climb.

The Wainwright Baggers are the exception collecting every peak in the books.
I never fancied that just climbing a Fell to tick a box.

The Lake District is both Mountains(Fells) and Lakes and that’s it’s beauty

Spoken from your heart Colin. As you say, the Lake District is many things to different visitors. They all have a common binding -nature at its best.
Thanks for this. I wish you many more pleasant trips to this area and look forward to more of your photographic captures.

Take care. Herb
