Esther ... it is exquisite. It was a pretty day(the smoke wasnt too bad ) and not too many peole. I could have spent a lot more time there.

The builder sold the family rice fields to build the bridge and the bell...I didn't know that. So, the Japanese gov't requested it, yet he had to fund it. Then, his son had to stay here and work for 50 years (!) to buy the land back! What a sad, heroic story.

Diane.. its achingly sad... now add the interment of the family that owned the garden and made it so beautiful for all..... They were ruined and never recovered.

We both know how we feel about that.
