Rat (+ PiP)

Rat (+ PiP)
Taken during a walk around Baffin's Pond Portsmouth, in the middle of the afternoon. I saw two rats, and they didn't seem bothered by the people walking round, even when we stopped to watch them. I suspect there are many more.

There is a close up shot in the PiP if you're up to it..!!

trester88, Ernest CH, Jean Paul Capdeville, Frans Schols and 16 other people have particularly liked this photo

Great detail in the PiP Keith and the main shot is excellent. They say we are never more that 6ft from a rat in the city!

Take care and have a good, sunny week.

I really don't appreciate seeing them in the city
In the countryside and in these stunning photos, everything is different!
Very well captured, Keith!

Yes a lot of these about but not normally so brazen as to show themselves during the day near people. Well spotted and captured here.

Keep safe. Herb

I think it's because us humans don't dispose of our rubbish properly..!! Can't blame the rats for that :-)

In that case, and I see it all too regular now, we will soon be completely over-run with waste and rats. Such is the times we live in Keith.
ps, I photographed a big one, very close to our rented cottage kitchen window a few years back, sat on the stone bird table, guzzling the bird seeds, nuts and fat balls. - I did wonder about posting it on here too but in the end declined -you got more bottle than me :)

You make them look cute;-) In natural surroundings I'm not overly bothered but I used to encounter them early in the morning going to work- in underground tram stations they are quite creepy....

They do have a bad reputation..............but they're just doing what they have to to survive!

Having said that................I wouldn't like to be too close to them in the wild..!!

Indeed................they are one of the ultimate survivors and will probably still be around when we're all gone!

They're fairly common near waterways here Fred. It's unusual to see them in daytime though.

Mein Kater hat dieses Jahr schon zwei Ratten erlegt. Sie leben auf dem Nachbargrundstück.

A good reason to have a cat Wilhelm...............as long as they don't bring them home to you.

My sister-in-law's cat caught a water vole a few years back and left it's bloody body just inside the door. In the morning she came downstairs in the dark with bare feet...................and you can guess the rest :-)))
