Thursday 21 March 2024 (1150) – Vehicles of renowned Delaine Buses Limited seen in Peterborough bus station. Left is 157 (AD64 DBL), a Wright Eclipse Gemini bodied Volvo B9TL new in September 2014. Right is 145 (AD59 DBL), an Optare Olympus bodied Volvo B9TL new in September 2009. The Olympus was originally an East Lancashire Coachbuilders design. New buses purchased by Delaine carry registrations featuring DBL representing the company’s initials.

Thursday 21 March 2024 (1147) – Arriving at Peterborough bus station on my journey from Wisbech (1105) on board First Eastern Counties Buses 36904 (YN69 XZH). This was the 0840 westbound ‘excel’ service C from Norwich to Peterborough. Two vehicles of renowned Delaine Buses Limited are in the view. Left is 145 (AD59 DBL), an Optare Olympus bodied Volvo B9TL new in September 2009. The Olympus was originally an East Lancashire Coachbuilders design. Thursday 21 March 2024 (1223) – Vectare Limited 216 (RX23 TUU), a Mercedes-Benz 516cdi new in March 2023, seen leaving Peterborough bus station working the 1220 service 24 to Lynchwood. The Ting network is a demand responsive service serving the rural communities east of Huntingdon. On the right is First Eastern Counties 36901 (YN69 XZD) which was the first of the 19 Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400 City bodied Scania N250UDs delivered in late 2019 for the Peterborough-Norwich ‘excel’ service. It had recently arrived spot on time (1217) as the 0900 service B from Norwich and would return to Norwich as the 1240 service C on which I would travel to Guyhirn.

Thursday 21 March 2024 (1206) – Vectare Limited 216 (RX23 TUU), a Mercedes-Benz 516cdi new in March 2023, seen in Peterborough bus station between trips of service 24 to Lynchwood. The Ting network is a demand responsive service serving the rural communities east of Huntingdon.

Thursday 21 March 2024 (1223) – Vectare Limited 216 (RX23 TUU), a Mercedes-Benz 516cdi new in March 2023, had just left Peterborough bus station working the 1220 service 24 to Lynchwood. The Ting network is a demand responsive service serving the rural communities east of Huntingdon.

Thursday 21 March 2024 (1230) – Vectare Limited 355 (YY73 RHE), an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro200D new in January 2024, seen arriving Peterborough bus station when service 25 from Alwalton Hill.

Thursday 21 March 2024 (1230) – Vectare Limited 355 (YY73 RHE), an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro200D new in January 2024, seen arriving Peterborough bus station when service 25 from Alwalton Hill. This view is from the southern end of the bus station Peterborough bus station seen from the southern end. The passenger area is located on a central island linked by a bridge from Queensgate Shopping Centre (on the right – the glass of the bridge reflecting and blending with the background sky). At ground level pedestrian access is via road crossings. Stagecoach East is the prominent local operator in the city and their buses load at stands on either side of the central island. Delaine Buses uses stands on the left of the island, National Express and Vectare services at the far end on the right. First Eastern Counties uses the first stand on the left for their ‘excel’ service to Norwich where 36901 (YN69 XZD) is standing. It was the first of the 19 Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400 City bodied Scania N250UDs delivered in late 2019.

Thursday 21 March 2024 (1156) – Three Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400D buses of Stagecoach East (Cambus) on the parking area close to Peterborough bus station. The one in the middle is the earlier model - 10054 (SN13 EEA) new to Norfolk Green (Go West Travel) in April 2013 The other two are the later Enviro400D MMC model new in September 2017. Nearest the camera is 10866 (YX67 VDA), that further away is 10870 (YX67 VDF).

Nearest the camera is 10870 (YX67 VDF). That further away is 10866 (YX67 VDA). (In the background behind 10870 were two Beulas Cygnus coaches operated by R.B. Travel (R. Bull) of Pytchley near Kettering (TH19 RBT and TH67 RBT)).

Thursday 21 March 2024 (1159) – Stagecoach East (Cambus) 36011 (AE07 KYS), now a training bus, is an Alexander Dennis Enviro200D new in July 2017 which was seen leaving Peterborough bus station. When I visited Peterborough in February 2019 this bus carried a pink based livery for Cancer Research.

Thursday 21 March 2024 (1200) – Stagecoach East (Cambus) 36011 (AE07 KYS), now a training bus, is an Alexander Dennis Enviro200D new in July 2017 which was seen leaving Peterborough bus station. When I visited Peterborough in February 2019 this bus carried a pink based livery for Cancer Research.

Thursday 21 March 2024 (1151) – Stagecoach East (Stagecoach in the Fens) 21225 (AE09 GYV) seen in Peterborough bus station arriving from Huntingdon on service 904. The destination display appears to be set for the 1200 return journey. It is a Wright Eclipse bodied Volvo B7BLE new in April 2009 which wears the Stagecoach Group’s ocean green scheme that is applied to vehicles operating on the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway. Once there was through running of the Peterborough to Cambridge service along the Busway but now the services are split at Huntingdon. Service 904 covers the Peterborough-Huntingdon section. On the left is Delaine Buses Limited 157 (AD64 DBL), a Wright Eclipse Gemini bodied Volvo B9TL new in September 2014.

Thursday 21 March 2024 (1236) – Peterborough bus station Left: Stagecoach Midlands 11130 (SK68 LVB) seen departing as the 1232 service X4 to Corby (due 1344) and Northampton (1521). Like many longer bus services the X4 is licenced in shorter sections (Peterborough-Corby/Corby-Northampton) but with buses running through. This legally avoids having to comply with additional formalities and regulations. This bus had arrived at 1225 as the 0933 service X4 from Northampton via Corby (1113). It is an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400D new in October 2018. I think I have read that the Stagecoach Gold livery will disappear as corporate repaints take place. Right: First Eastern Counties Buses 36901 (YN69 XZD) had arrived on time (at 1217) as the 0900 service B from Norwich. It would return to Norwich as the 1240 service C (arriving 1537). It is an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400 City bodied Scania N250UD new in November 2019. It is an interesting thought that a passenger could have departed Norwich at 0900 changed buses here and arrived Northampton at 1521 (or conversely left Northampton at 0933 arriving Norwich at 1537) travelling only by these two buses covering around 130 miles/209km in just over 6 hours!
