Happy Fence Friday

Gargellen is a small valley settlement in the Montafon with only 110 inhabitants. It is the highest village in the Montafon at 1,423 metres. For us, the village is a good starting point for climbing tours in the area. ~~~~~ Gargellen ist ein kleiner Talort im Montafon mit nur 110 Einwohnerinnen bzw. Einwohnern. The day before yesterday, the first load of snow came down. When you consider that three weeks ago we were still doing a via ferrata, then you realise how short autumn is here. ~~~~~ Vorgestern ist das erste Fuder Schnee bei uns herunter gekommen. Wenn man bedenkt, dass wir vor drei Wochen noch einen Klettersteig gegangen sind, dann wird bewusst, wie kurz der Herbst bei uns ist. ~~~~~

On the suspension bridge on the Stubnerkogel (2,200 m) above Bad Gastein (Salzburg, Austria). This is my last winter picture of this season. Spring is now knocking very loudly in Tyrol, too. Even early in the morning, the slopes are only soft, even at 2,000 metres. That is no joy. ~~~~~ Auf der Hängebrücke am Stubnerkogel (2.200 m) oberhalb von Bad Gastein (Salzburg, Österreich). Dies ist mein letztes Winterbild der diesjährigen Saison. Der Frühling klopft inzwischen nämlich auch in Tirol sehr laut an. Selbst frühmorgens sind die Pisten auch in 2.000 Metern Höhe nur noch weich. Das macht keine Freude. ~~~~~

A cold beer on the terrace of the Bettelwurf Hut at 2,077 metres above sea level. Here you can rest and strengthen yourself after the successful ascent. This is absolutely necessary, because you have to descend the 1,300 metres again. ~~~~~ Ein kühles Bier auf der Terrasse der Bettelwurf Hütte auf 2.077 Metern Seehöhe. Today is the darkest day of the year. My wife and I are celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary . (We chose this date because from then on it will be steadily getting lighter again.) The photo was taken on the way home from the Christmas market in the neighbouring village. The surrealistic lighting is created by the district heating plant in the background ~~~~~ Heute ist der dunkelste Tag des Jahres. Meiner Frau und ich feiern unseren 15ten Hochzeitstag . (Wir hatten diesen Termin gewählt, weil es von da an wieder stetig heller wird.) Die Aufnahme entstand beim Heimweg vom Weihnachtsmarkt im Nachbardorf.
