Canada Tour / On the flight to Calgary across Hudson Bay 1xPiP

Canada Tour / On the flight to Calgary across Hudson Bay 1xPiP
Flight over Hudson Bay, a marginal sea of over 1.20 million km² connected to the Atlantic Ocean via Hudson Strait.
Hudson Bay has a tundra and taiga climate. In winter, the bay is iced over; it is also called the ice cellar of North America. However, due to global warming, the ice is thawing earlier and earlier, which is becoming a threat to polar bears, as one of their main food sources, seals, is only accessible through the frozen Hudson Bay.

PiP1: No, these are not swimming beaches, these are environmental sins from oil sands mining Oil sands are indeed an important source of petroleum. But the mining of the oil-water-sand mixture and the extraction of the oil are very harmful to the environment and the climate and leave highly visible traces.

A fascinating view from up there Aschi.............almost abstract in nature. I like the shapes of the ice, An interesting PiP too...........and another sad example of how badly us humans are treating the planet.

A great view of this area, Aschi. Such a shame about the PiP - having the natural space being spoiled like that. I do hope that not too many animals were injured or made ill through it.

Yes, sadly, humans are continuing to f-ck up the planet, and the children growing up now will have to bear the brunt.

The companies who create the damage are also not paying to repair it. They sell the land yo a small company that gets what it can out of the land and then goes bankrupt. And if the federal government takes any measures to correct that I suspect the new premier of Alberta would try to nullify the measure with her new Sovereigbty Act, which claims that Alberta can override the Constitution. What a tangled rope we coil when we practise to drill oil.
