The dairy barn at Mary Lake Augustinian Monastery. This is the most magnificent barn I have ever seen! 25 years ago I spray painted the ceilings in the dairy section one level beneath what you see here. The picture does not do justice to the size of the structure. What once housed one of the most prestigious collection of dairy cattle in the country now sits vacant and deteriorating. In between painting, I spent hours exploring it's nooks and crannies. The other side of the barn is faced with field stone. The interior is so massive and built with such attention to detail that standing inside is humbling. A testimony to the importance of the farm animal, when the magnificence exceeded the home of the farmer.
