Below the ford
Just below a fording spot at Merrow meadow, on the Willimantic River.
There's something about smooth stones that calls. To be walked on, piled up, flat ones to skip.
Its August, the water is low. Following the April storms, there was another four feet of water here.
Moosompsquehtu, among the smooth stones (Trumbull, 66) . Watching the river flow.
Trumbull, J. Hammond, Natick Dictionary, A New England Indian Lexicon. Lincoln, 2009. Print.
