Rods down, British Railways Standard 9F 2-10-0 92214 heads off shed to work the 10.00 to Leicester North. Fireman Andrew looks ahead while the Third Man/Cleaner checks out the view across to the water tank. Taken from the yard gate as I arrived for a shed turn. To get the full impression of its power I suggest viewing large!

Jackson Square and St Louis Cathedral in New Orleans' French Quarter. The 18th century square was designed after the famous 17th-century Place des Vosges in Paris by the architect and landscape architect Louis H. Pilié. It is the site where in 1803 Louisiana was formally made United States territory after the Louisiana Purchase. HFF to everyone. Enjoy your weekend.

Borobudur is a Buddhist stupa and temple complex in Central Java, Indonesia dating from the 8th century, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is one of world's great ancient monuments, the single largest Buddhist structure anywhere on earth. This is the upper level of three. Inside every bell-shaped stupa is a statue of Buddha; the top has been taken off this one to reveal the content. I thought it was crowded in 1981 but since it became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991 it has become the most popular tourist attraction in modern day Indonesia and a major international attraction.

When in 1893 the North Cornwall Railway was extended to Wadebridge and beyond, the station here was named Delabole after the nearby Devonian Delabole Slate quarry. The slate was exported via the railway until closure to goods in 1964. This Southern Railway sign was seen on the slate wall of a house alongside the now closed line. HWW to everyone. Blue skies, palm trees and reflections in the Alhambra, Granada.

Goats and dogs roam the street in the old town of Shibam Kawkaban. The mountain top city is 50km northwest of Sana'a at 3000m (9,800ft) altitude. Back in 1993 Yemen was a beautiful friendly place to live. and travel throughout most of the country was easy - only the Houthi heartland around Sada was tricky. Things have changed terribly for the poor people of Yemen (although in 1994 we were evacuated because of the civil war). HWW to everyone & peace to Yemen.
