As modern as Singapore was in 1974, there were still elements of the past, especially in the harbor. This 1974 image was taken with a Yashica ELECTRO 35CC. The negative was scanned with an HP Scanjet G4050 and restored with multiple Photoshop operations.

A minor crossing of the Mekong River from Laos to Thailand in the Golden Triangle. I flew Royal Laotian Airways (consisting of a single DC3 aircraft) into Ban Hat Tai from Luang Prabang. Travelers continued into Thailand crossing the Mekong River by small wooden boats and then bus to the nearest major town, Chiang Rai. It was a grand adventure. -An Andean alpine valley with sheer cliff faces overlooked by Nevado Hauntsan, 6200m., where my party of 3 camped for the night. We were on a 4-day trek from Olleros to Chavín, Peru. I began my alpine training for treks like this with a friend, scaling the heights of El Tepozteco near Tepoztlán, México, many months before. I lost the 35mm Agfa negatives of this shoot and discovered a faded print in my old photo travel-journal dating back to 1975. Using an HP Scanjet 5470c I was able render a digital image which I carefully restored as best I could with multiple Photoshop operations.

Misión San Carlos Borroméo del Río Carmelo, also known as the Carmel Mission is on the National Register of Historic Places and a U.S. National Historic Landmark. It was the headquarters of the original upper Las Californias Province missions headed by Father Junípero Serra from 1770 until his death in 1784. I was in Rio de Janeiro for the 1983 Carnival. The queen and princesses of the Bloco Cacique de Ramos posed for me. They asked me, "Hey American, do you have tropical blood?" Native to the Copacabana region of Rio de Janeiro is the unique Brazilian Bikini Tree. It flowers with beautiful bikinis and awaits pretty young Brazilian girls to collect them and "germinate" additional bikini trees. Although modern techniques now exist to separate these conjoined sisters, they have decided to remain together, their love for one another fast and true. Jakarta’s modern Masjid al-Azhar complex in suburban Kebayoran Baru contains the well known school of the same name, large playing fields, a library and other facilities.
