A shame about the sign Edna, but it's one that's appearing everywhere!
The buildings are delightfully decayed, which seems to look good in France but here, it would be called a rundown area. Maybe it's the sunshine that makes it look better.

Yes, that's true, the same here but in France those closed and disappearing shops are so much more picturesque. And delightfully decayed...that's the perfect description, Rosa. Again... that's France! They've got style. Here it's just plain old decay ;-)

Sieht nicht sehr einladend aus - selbst wenn "Kanterbräu" schmecken sollte.

Wir haben dort in der Nähe zwei Pizzen abgeholt und die waren super lecker! Diese schicke open-air Bar und das Kanterbräu nicht ausprobiert, aber wenn's so gut schmeckt, wie's dort aussieht, dann ist es umwerfend ;-))

ja, stimmt, so viele marode und auch trostlose, halb verlassene Dörfer ohne Charme gibt's in Frankreich wirklich viele!! aber man sollte nicht nur aufs Äußere achten, sonst geht man mit leerem Magen nach Haus ;-))))

Aber nicht doch. Ich finde diese Dörfer überhaupt nicht trostlos oder ohne Charme. Von solchen Dörfern könnte der Rest der Welt für seine halbverlassenen Dörfer etwas lernen :-))
Ja, die Pizzeria war auch auf dieser Strasse, ich habe die Wartezeit zum fotografieren genutzt und es hat sich gelohnt. Sowohl die Fototour als auch die Pizza. In solchen Gegenden sollte man keine Vorurteile haben ;-)))

The guy who's drinking it, is probably the best advertisement ;-) We didn't try it though, but instead a delcious pizza nearby. We were hungry and just beer wouldn't have been enough ;-))

Ich glaube, dort gibt's nur Bier. Nee, das ist Frankreich, da muss es auch Wein geben ;-))
Jedenfalls gibt's leckere Pizza in der Nähe und dazu passt ein Weinchen auch sehr gut. Und wenn man erst mal satt ist, dann denkt sich's besser. Auch über den Zahn der Zeit. Über den darf ich nämlich in einigen Tagen auch wieder mal nachdenken... ;-)))

I read above from your pen that France's style is decrepitude - or at least that it cultivates it in a special way! ;-) At least you know how to appreciate it, given the way you show it to us :-)
For us, it's part of the scenery, and even part of its charm: I (and am not alone) get bored in the totally modern neighborhoods now found in most French cities (and elsewgere). Don't you?
At least small bars survive, for local conviviality. The closed-down businesses in town centers are as you know the victims of the big shopping centers; and no one even wants to take them over...

My thoughts exactly. France cultivates decay in a special, charming, harmonious and elegant way :-) And I do appreciate it a lot, hence my (almost) never-ending photo series of it.
And I agree: totally modern neighborhoods are really boring, soulless, and they might as well be clones of all the other boring modern neighborhoods that exist on this planet! And somehow they remind me of Italo Calvinos "Invisible Cities".

I think that slowly there will be a return to small bars and shops. That's my futuristic vision ;-)
