Rooms for Rent

Seen in the old town of Chania on the Island of Crete. There are many narrow alleys and streets like this here giving the whole place a medieval effect. One might wonder about the purpose of the barred windows here on your rented room ! Enjoy large.

Greek blue fences

Only in Greece or on Greek Islands are you likely to see such an array of blues and whites. A nice set of whitewashed steps accompanied with blue doors and windows too. Altogether a very pleasing picture to my old eyes.~ Seen on the beautiful Island of Mykonos. I wish you all, a great weekend, Herb A must, in full screen.

A Rhodes welcome

A welcoming open door into this yard beckons the innocent fence photographer inside, but I have to resist the temptation and just grab this as I pass by. I do like the matching fence, window and door colours here I wish you all, a great weekend, Herb

Housey-housey

SPC Joint Winner March/April 2020 (Porte/Doors). My fellow winner was Amelia Heath Originally in my old Panoramio account, these are actually beach huts. The title chosen because of the numbered boxes here representing in a little way our old social light gambling game: Bingo. When one won - they would shout 'House'! The game was often called 'housey-housey. Of course the double meaning was not lost on me neither :) The SPC (Secret Photographer Challenge) is one of a handful of Ipernity photo competitions. It is a fun contest giving contestants a chance to pit their skills with often something a little different from their normal Ipernity submissions. Each contestant enters up to three small photos that are not in their Ipernity account already. A winner is brought about afterwards by free votes of the SPC membership. The winner (s) have the prize of honour and also the chance to select the next subject. Please give it a try - its easy and fun: www.ipernity.com/group/2249054/discuss/190840 Enjoy

Memories of Tuscany: The Siena light

Siena, has beautiful light! It all works so perfectly well with the coffee coloured walls of its many buildings. Here we have a view of one of the many streets with high walls and shuttered windows. Of course the shadows from the opposite buildings gave me this unique bridge-like effect here. The green, white and red national flags help too (il Tricolore) :) Enjoy full screen

Eglwys Llanbadrig Islamic window

........... In 1884 this church was refurbished by the 3rd Lord Stanley of Alderly who had married a Spanish Moorish woman and converted to Islam himself. He donated a substantial sum of money to refurbish the interior of the church to reflect his new faith with a dramatic Moorish interior with blue tiles, blue glazed windows and Arab-style iconography.” This all sits in harmony with the traditional stone flooring and otherwise local décor.
