Dear members and friends of ipernity,
1. We have now updated the Explore Groups page so that it really is a diverse and up-to-date overview of our club life. Some suggestions had to be rejected because either no descriptions existed or they were not multilingual. (After all, it gives a poor impression if a title or a description is not displayed in the language a visitor has chosen in the language menu. One might think that it is a programming error.)
2. You are cordially invited to propose other groups. Also the groups that were rejected can be suggested again, if they become improved. Please follow this link.
3. The link to the most noteworthy pictures of our community has now also been added as a button in the 'Explore' menu. This way, curious visitors are led directly there. The pictures are presented there in a random order that changes every 5 minutes. This means that even older contributions have a chance to appear at the front now and then.
4. The editorial team, which selects the ambassador pictures from the suggestions made, now has 5 members. Further enquiries to the administrator of the group are possible.
5. For the intended advertisement on Facebook, there is a first suggestion which we are very happy about. If you have further ideas, you are welcome to present them.
6. For all those who are interested in helping to renew our software, we have set up a development server. This is SSL-encrypted and can be reached via the public web address ipernity-beta.com. We would be pleased if our familiar homepage would be set up there as a first step. In addition, a maintenance notice page can be set up there. We ask for your support in this regard.

Chers membres et amis d'ipernity,

As you know, the entire 'Explore' page has been redesigned to be a kind of visiting card with which we show our club to visitors. And like everywhere else, the first impression counts.
Groups chosen for the 'Explore' page should therefore be exemplary. As a noble gesture of courtesy, we should address visitors in the language they have chosen by using the language options. Therefore we are asking you to please ensure that the group name and description are shown in at least the 3 most used languages on ipernity (English, French and German) and preferably in all 7 languages that ipernity supports. This also prevents visitors from getting the mistaken impression that there might be a programming bug if a title or description is presented in a language they have not chosen.
While ipernity has wonderful translation features, it unfortunately does not automatically translate group names or group descriptions. This means it is up to you to take the small effort to enter appropriate translations.
The added benefit of your efforts will be that people searching for a group by topic, will find your group with a word search in their own language. Know that while the group search feature searches through group descriptions as well as titles, it is language specific. For example, searching for “chat” (French for cat) will not bring up groups with “cat” if the title and description translations have not been entered.
HOW TO:
The creation of translations is quite straightforward. We recommend you open www.deepl.com in a separate browser tab to obtain the translations. A short tutorial of how easily to enter the translations into your group(s) can be found here: Sami Serola: Group Description - How To. Once done, you can see this by switching your language preference at the top of the screen to the right of the search bar.
Thank you for taking the time to help!
p.s. While some have included translations in their group names and descriptions, this isn’t as efficient as the above method and can be less obvious since frequently the group description has to be expanded before all the languages can be seen.
My version could be based on some of these: www.ipernity.com/tag/serola/keyword/41875

The photographer's consent has already been obtained. He also has the consent of the person depicted for publication on ipernity. We still want to ascertain whether the person also gives this consent for the intended purpose of the advertisement.
Karin G. club has replied to Team clubIn the meantime, there are three publishing-ready proposals for the envisioned advertising campaign on Facebook. For all three pictures, the photographers and the persons photographed have given their permission to use the pictures for this purpose royalty-free.

In its meeting yesterday, the ima team decided that the target group of the first advertising campaign are well-off older hobby photographers in western countries with high buying potential, who shoot with classic cameras, are interested in image editing, photo books, photo accessories, or photo sharing and go online via laptop or desktop.
Why? Because ipernity's strengths clearly lie in the desktop version and not in the mobile versions. Furthermore, this target group is the most likely that the clicks (we have to pay for !) will lead to registrations, because this target group is not completely fixated on smartphones or tablets, both in terms of age and technical orientation.
Because of our limited budget, we initially only want to place these ads in countries where English, French or German is spoken.
To date, 45 registrations have been received for the General Assembly on March 28, 2021.
Candidatures so far:
1) President: William Sutherland, USA (William Sutherland)
2) Vice President: Bernhard Westrup, Austria (Bergfex) (still elected until 2022)
3) Treasurer:
4) Webmaster: Stefan Roßkopf (Kiezkicker)
5) Moderator: Laura Fletcher, USA (Raingirl)
