  • Our Travels (Part 1)

This is a not-quite-up-to-date list of travels involving my wife and myself. I've included travel experiences from before we met. Many of these travels involve photography. We are both avid amateurs, and really started taking lots of photos when digital cameras came out. Anyway on to the list (which is located at swansongrp.com/trips_all.html ) Hmm, seems that Ipernity has truncated the entire entry, so this is just part 1... - - - - - - Introduction -- First of all, this list of trav…

  • Putting Photos in Groups on Ipernity

This article contains the text of my reply to a member who had made several group recommendations for my recently-uploaded photos. "Thank you for the recommendations. It is time-consuming for me to work through all of them, because I am not familiar with the many groups on Ipernity. Given enough time, I can evaluate each group to decide whether I can join or not, and whether that photo, or perhaps some other photo would fit within the group's rules. I don't have time every day to study the…

Be sure to view "our travels (part 1)". I tried to put in all the text, but Ipernity truncated it at 1995. Using reverse time order, by the way. Entire narrative at: swansongrp.com/trips_all.html Continuing at 1995... 1995 -- In February, we took advantage of some really cheap airline tickets and traveled for 16 days in The Netherlands and Belgium. We went everywhere on trains, and most of our entertainment and meals took place in bars. Bob, at least, was trying to taste at least…

  • Making Your Own Interactive Photo Album

Not all of my photos are on Ipernity (nor on Flickr*). I have placed a number of photos on my personal website: swansonphotos.com/P/p and follow the links. There are all of our travel photos, as well as links to pages that describe our travels. After trying various systems to make static photo sites, I discovered HUGO. The above link points to a HUGO-created site, which includes some very nice interactive albums of photos on a specific "theme". * Flickr is threatening to remove mos…

Hello all, I recently joined Ipernity, after being on Flickr for many years. Over the next few months, I will be doing two things: 1) Transferring as many photos as I can from Flickr to Ipernity. 2) Placing many of the 8,000 photos from Flickr on my personal website. These will supplement those on Ipernity. I do this because I see no future for Flickr. It was a great run while it lasted. I am delighted to join the Ipernity community, and look forward to seeing many more beautif…

Since the "travels" articles are in reverse time order, this set appears before 2018 (part 1). After 2022, don't know what I'll do. 2021 -- Oh well, ANOTHER 'transition' year for us. Our "plans" to have two apartments (summer and winter) were destroyed by the Valentine Day snow/ice storms in Texas. Our apartment in New Braunfels was "electric only". We weren't allowed to have ANY open flame. So, when the electricity failed, with 10 degrees (F) outside, we just got colder and colder. After a d…

Wow, I just found this, thanks to another web site. Besides the wonder of the fine work of this photographer, there are ideas in his images that may inspire others to try his techniques. Enjoy! www.tomhegen.com/ Referred from: www.thingsmagazine.net/cutting-edge/
