This temple is built in an unusual style than other Thai temples. Bangkok has about 3,000 temples and monasteries. Most of them are outside the center and most of the very beautiful holy centers are seldom seen by foreign visitors.

Khlong Sam Wah was established as a district (Amphoe) on 21st of November 1997 by splitting out from Minburi. Minburi is district as the city (Amphoe Muang Minburi) and province (Changwat Minburi).

Primarily the Khlong was dug from displaced Cambodian moslem slaves. Descendants still live in this area.
