A big plastic ball is filled with breathing air and closed with a sipper. The girl keeps dry in this ball and falls softly and smooth when bumps together with other swimming bulbs.

Although under grey weather condition we discovered "color" between the grey modern tower buildings. Here in foreground a public building in Chinese style called Qingkhen.

Diabolos evolved from the Chinese yo-yo, which was originally standardized in the 12th century. Chinese yo-yos have a long thin axle, with disc-shaped wheels.

Kites were used approximately 2,800 years ago in China, where materials ideal for kite building were readily available: silk fabric for sail material, fine, high-tensile-strength silk for flying line, and resilient bamboo for a strong, lightweight framework. When you walk in the Namsan Park you can observe kite fightings at the sky, one tries to crash down an other one, the kite string is fixed with glass splinter to cut off somebody others line.

This 36 hectare park was created after the establishment of the PRC. The facilities here include a zoo, an artificial lake, an outdoor theater, children's playing areas, a dining room and a teahouse. Huxian Mountain and Huxin Pavilion sit in the center of the lake looked over by a 200 meter long corridor designed to ensure that visitors have the most picturesque views of the park.

When we visitors walked through the park we sometimes got the impression of a future technology center. The towns citizen show a bit individualism in Park by their outfit and the kind of activity levels they do.

Some buildings in Chinese style are overwhelmed with grey high buildings around. The City People's Park and the Namsan Park downtown give a breath for the urban citizen to relax in this concrete colony.

By using the gray bricks and tiles, white walls and red pillars, the old city is neat with classic simplicity.

It was an outstanding experience to get contact to some body in China who's occupation isn't a tourist guide or agent. Discussions about Diane's education to get an engineer in China were very interesting for us.

The town view seems a bit like Singapore, the streets are absolute clean and the visitor gets an impression to be in a sterile area.

Diane, a 22 year old girl in Xining was doing to proxy leading us as the tour guide in Xining. Her usual occupation is to be a constructing architect and engineer.

More than 2 Mill. people living in Xining. Although the cities downtown itself has a strong Islamic flavor, it is home to many Han, Hui and also some Tibetan people.

The city skyline only shows modern buildings. Xining is a new built town after the earthquake in 1927 smashed nearly all houses.

When we arrived Xining on a Friday the road to downtown seemed to be not busy. Many of its population of Xining are Muslims and Friday is their holiday to go to the mosques for to pray.
