A postcard – I’m not sure, but it looks to me if the mountains were put in artificially...

Two roads take you from Icking to Irschenhausen. This picture is taken from the higher one, the Ulrichstraße. Below is the Irschenhauser Straße.

I hesitate to admit it, but Irschenhausen’s sex appeal is much more obvious than Icking’s. Understandably, it has been a center of arts and artists for a long time.

Icking/Irschenhausen, Stockerweiher

This picturesque pond at Irschenhausen was full of fish as I passed by. I fancy, on the larger versions of this picture, you can even see them –swarming just beneath the water surface.
It is named after the Stockers, who live in the house in the background. Hans Stocker was a barrel maker by profession and had been Icking’s mayor for 24 years; he died earlier this year, aged 84.

Just a pile of wood, between Icking and Irschenhausen. The mix of two generations of wood was what made it interesting to me...

The house where the poet Rainer Maria Rilke spent several years of his life (see also here).
Irschenhausen is a part of Icking. It must have been founded centuries after Icking itself, but time has dealt more generously with it. It was, and to some extent still is, a center of artists and writers.
Scan of a picture taken by my brother.
