Another Rochester silo

04 May 2023 43 36 369
This painting of a Platypus on this Rochester silo was done by Jimmy Dvate, just behind and a few years after his earlier works there (see my previous posting). We were fortunate to be able to visit as part of the events for the National Muster of the Renault 4CV Register of Australia. Second image in the PiP. I am finalising my preparations to head away for another trip and expect I will be largely offline from now through the rest of May. With that thought, I wish you all the very best over coming weeks and a Happy Fence Friday.

4CV Muster and silos

30 Apr 2023 27 24 363
One of the trips as part of the Renault 4CV Register's Muster gathering, was to the painted silos at Colbinabbin. If I can organise myself adequately, I'll have more images of the silos tomorrow. In the foreground is a Renault Florids, with another behind to the left, while at right is a row of Renault 4CVs. Of course, we mustn't forget the bench, so as I head for my bed late on a Sunday evening, I'll wish everyone a Happy Bench Monday and a good week to follow.

Renault Muster

06 Apr 2021 29 15 277
At Easter every two years, Australia's Renault 4CV Register holds a national "Muster". Originally the Register was only for the little 4CVs, such as the one in the foreground of this image, but it since has taken in the later derivatives, such as the Renault 8 Gordini which is the second car in this shot. These images were taken at this year's gathering. I'm usually fully involved, but this year made only an overnight visit. More images from the gathering in the PiPs.

Wing Hing Long

This was a country general store which opened in the 1880s when Tingha was beginning to thrive as a tin mining town. It operated until 1998, when the local Council purchased it to become a museum - it now is heritage listed and a visit inside really is a "blast from the past" (images to come). It struck me that this image could have been taken back in 1961 (the date of the newest vehicle, the Renault Floride at left), so a b/w treatment seemed appropriate. Explored.

Tingha Town Hall

What more can I say about the imposing Tingha Town Hall across the way? Taken from outside the Royal Hotel (see PiP).

In Tingha

Tingha was once a thriving tin mining village. The tin mining has gone, as have most of the people. This was taken from the residence (see PiP) for the general store, which now is a museum and heritage listed. We visited in the course of our car club gathering. HFF and have a great weekend, everyone. Explored.

4CV Muster

24 Apr 2019 23 18 670
Just home from a busy Easter, with a trip of 1,000km each way to the biennial Renault 4CV Muster, the national gathering in Australia of owners of the Renault 4CV and its derivatives such as the Floride/Caravelle and R8/R10. It's essentially a great social occasion and I should add that some travel much further than we did! Explored.

And as the sun sets ......

26 Apr 2017 21 15 677
Departures - the sun and us! Taken as we were about to leave at the end of our Easter car club gathering, with reflections on the roof of the car near the camera. We are now heading away again (and offline) for a little over a week. So glad that IP SA and the IMA are now finalising arrangements for the continuation of the site. Best wishes all, and maybe enjoy this track.

Red cars go faster

Sunset by the beach

I washed and polished the car today - that needed to be recorded, so camera time. :-) Best viewed large.

On the circuit

06 Oct 2016 18 25 768
View large. Mount Panorama is (locally, at least) one of Australia's most famous motor racing circuits, located just outside Bathurst where we were holding our Renault gathering (see earlier images). We had to do a lap! There's quite a climb involved (see PiPs and link above), so somehow I doubt our little cars threatened the lap record. :-) The Renault Alpine A310 in the foreground may have done better. HFF, everyone - plenty of fence choices in this series.

At the top near Brock's Skyline

At the top of the Mount_Panorama racing circuit , we gathered all the cars in a small parking area alongside the track, for some photos. From here the track descends to the right in some steep bends, before reaching the main straight. HFF.

Into The Cutting

06 Oct 2016 4 2 601
Still heading up the hill at the Mount_Panorama racing circuit , this section is quite steep (as can be seen) and is known as The Cutting for obvious reasons.

Up Mountain Straight

06 Oct 2016 1 532
This section of the Mount_Panorama racing circuit is known as Mountain Straight and is where the steep climb (some 175M/570ft) up the mountain begins. Quick, be ready to go back a gear!

At Millthorpe station

22 Sep 2016 12 4 701
Our first line-up of the Mini-Muster, held to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the release of the Renault 4CV (most of them) and the 60th anniversary of the Renault Dauphine (at left).

Blue reflections

At least the Easter rain enabled some pleasant reflections, such as this Renault 4CV. Explored.
