The salt industry has been a feature of the Torrevieja area for several centuries & these walls of salt have been collected from two large pink salt lakes known as Las Salinas de Torrevieja.
HWW to everyone. Enjoy the day.

Sunset over Swithland reservoir seen in the afternoon returning home after our lineside clearance turn.
You would have to look very carefully to realise that the Great Central Railway viaduct crosses the reservoir in the left distance.
HFF to everyone & enjoy the weekend.

Feeding the birds on the Serpentine in Hyde Park.
The Wellington Arch at Hyde Park Corner and the Palace of Westminster seem much closer than they really are but almost 50 years of tree growth has spoilt the view today.

The roofless remains of the station building at Bassenthwaite Lake on the former Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith Railway. This is the platform side view, the LMR red paint on the open doors a reminder of its former ownership by the LMS.
The station opened in 1865 and was closed by British Railways in 1966 along with the entire line west from Keswick. It has since been totally renovated and reopened as a Café and Special Events Venue.

A late evening scene at the Hofvijfer in the centre of Den Haag. The modern skyline dwarfs the historic Binnenhof government buildings alongside the lake.

I love the fronds of tall grass that grow along the banks of Inle Lake, delicately shimmering in the wind.

A Saturday morning visit to the National Trust property at Baddesley Clinton between Solihull & Leamington Spa. The frozen lake, surrounding woods & fields make a very pleasant walk.
HFF everybody & have a great weekend.

The salt-lake known as Les Salines in Calpe is a favourite feeding ground for flamingoes. They are not too photogenic as they feed because their long beaks and necks are always under water so the only time to grab a shot is when they briefly come up for air like this.

Fishermen still work on Inle lake & not just posing for the tourists. This chap is demonstrating the one-legged paddle action they adopt to move along leaving their hands free to cast the fishing net. All the while balancing on the end of that boat.

A visit to Newstead Abbey north of Nottingham the former home of Lord Byron. The priory of St. Mary of Newstead, a house of Augustinian Canons, was founded by King Henry II of England about the year 1170. It was converted to a domestic home in 1540 following the Dissolution of the Monasteries.
HFF to everyone and have a great weekend.

It may look like a dug-out canoe high and dry in a field but these fields are actually floating on Inle Lake and the boat, like ours, is making its way along a narrow waterway. The fields are anchored into the bottom of the shallow lake by those hundreds of wooden poles.
We had a great time in Burma but little did we realise that it would be the last trip before the covid lockdown. Now we are very pleased to have actually been able to take a holiday in 2020.
Let's hope the recent military coup doesn't lead to any deaths and can be resolved quickly.

On our journey from San Francisco to Yosemite National Park we turned off Highway 120 to Vista Point overlooking Woods Creek in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada.
The car was a rental vehicle. I think it's a 1977 Dodge Aspen 4-door sedan. Can anyone confirm that?

A different kind of fisherman on Lake Inle. He is “fishing” for lake bottom weeds to use as fertiliser on his crops in the floating fields behind. The pile that he has already gathered appears to be about to engulf his boat.
