This was another more or less successful pan, which was probably too successful, without enough blur in the background. This Eurocity was carrying one of my friends visiting from Britain.

This was my tram, service 17, worked by tram #9078, which would take me to Dvorce.

This wasn't my tram, but I wasn't sure if I had a photo of 9116 yet, so I took the shot.

Cafe Lighthouse, Prague, CZ, 2009

The Lighthouse building also has a adjacent building with more offices and services, which is considered part of the same complex. This coffeehouse is on the ground floor, and is open to the public.

Here's an alternate shot that I took of the lighthouse building, featuring better sky detail, and a more complete angle on the building, allowing you to see the assymetrical design.

The Lighthouse is a post-Communist office building in the Holesovice neighborhood, right next to Libensky Most and the River Vltava. It is one of the better known modern buildings in Prague.

Here's another Austrian locomotive that happened to be waiting in Holesovice, double headed with either a CD 362 or 363 Class electric.

At this point, my train, coming from Budapest (if I'm not mistaken) hadn't arrived yet, but the locomotive that would take the train into Germany, CD #362164-6, was already waiting.

My first international trip after getting back to Prague was to Dresden, which meant that I departed from Nadrazi Holesovice. Since the Schengen agreement took effect, my sense is that the various European railways have been less hesitant to allow their locomotives to operate across international borders, as these Austrian OBB Class 1216 electrics have been turning up in Holesovice quite a bit lately.

Nadrazi Holesovice Franze Kafky Sign, Prague, CZ,…

This station name actually dates to 2007, if I'm not mistaken. I remember first seeing this sign coming back to Prague in 2008 from Christmas Break, and it must have gone up before the break, of course. Realising their blunder, however (Kafka wrote stories about hellish bureaucracy and mismanagement), Ceske Drahy quickly removed these signs from inside the rail station proper, or covered the name in tape, rather. This sign, at the bus station end, was allowed to stay, however, so although I kicked myself for not getting the signs in the station earlier, I was able to get a photo of this sign as a last resort.

This was one of those strange surprises that Prague has if you look around. Not only is this a real British double decker bus (albeit not an AEC Routemaster), but it's even still got its British route number and destination boards. If anybody knows the exact year and model (Thrash Merchant, do you know?), that would be great.

It took this shot for the same reason as the last one. I saw the opportunity, and I took it. I also don't photograph the Pendolino everyday, so that was another reason.

This wasn't my train, but was one that pulled into Holesovice while I was waiting, and I couldn't resist taking this moderate pan shot. :-)

This WAS my train. I don't remember which one it was, but I'm pretty sure it was EC170 "Hungaria," as it has a Slovak Class 350 on the point. EC172, the other afternoon train for Berlin, originates in Wien (Vienna), so it wouldn't have Slovak power.
