Zdakovsky Most, Stredocesky kraj, Bohemia(CZ), 201…

Although this highway bridge is not so widely known today, at the time of its construction in 1967 it had the longest single arch in the world at 362 metres. It is named after the village of Zdakov, which was flooded during the construction of the reservoir.

I liked the Fall colors of this scene, and I've been meaning to post another shot composed like this for a long time. I really should try to reshoot this with a proper camera, though, as maybe the main reason this is the best I've been able to do is that every time I try it, I try it with the cameraphone.

This was taken from the same bridge as shot 3, but in the other direction.

This isn't the most colorful shot that I took, but the foggy scene and strange colors convinced me that this is also a shot that I want to share. If I'm not mistaken, this was really how it looked, although I didn't note it at the time. This wasn't from the pedestrian bridge, incidentally. It's in the distance in this shot, and I'm actually on a road bridge. The water is much calmer here because of a dam further downstream by the pedestrian bridge.

For this shot I switched to Ektar. I liked the results, and in fact right on the heels of shooting my best ever (from a technical standpoint) black and white roll with the Ikoflex, I went on to shoot my best ever color roll. I like this shot, but I don't know if it's my favorite. There's another shot further on which I like more.

The real reason I had my Ikoflex with me was that I wanted to take some Fall photos in Cercany, so I took the train down, and finished my roll of Fomapan on the new pedestrian bridge over the Sazava.
Old Linka 011, Picture 4, Prague, CZ, 2010

This is one of the bridges on the old line, crossing Husitska, which if I'm not mistaken I saw trins running over in my early years of living in Prague. For that matter, I'm fairly certain that I've been over it many times on trains.
Tubular Bridge at Hurka, Prague, CZ, 2009

This is one of my favorite bridges in Prague. It's actually a Metro bridge that links Hurka and Luziny, both of them in the vicinity of the larger Sidliste Nove Butovice.
View From Zeleznicni Most, Prague, CZ, 2009
10 Aug 2009 |
|
Soon after passing Vysehrad, the main for Beroun crosses the Zeleznicni Most, the most visible of the rail bridges over the Vltava (as the others are in out-of-the-way neighborhoods). If you look out over the city, it's surprising what you can see when you consider that this is a cameraphone image. Every major landmark on the west bank of the Vltava (except for Miklasky Chram) from Stadion Strahov to Prazky Hrad is at least slightly visible, encompassing the neighborhoods of Smichov, Strahov, the Mala Strana, and the Hradcany all at once.
010 Class Interior Over Slapy, Bohemia (CZ), 2008

Slapy is a reservior south of Prague that is also legal for boating and swimming. The branchline to Dobris crosses it on a trestle, seen here.
Most Legii Silhouette, Prague, CZ, 2007

I took this sillouette of the Most Legii in Prague in order to get my take on a common subject attempted by many other Prague photographers. I took this with my Lomo 135BC, surprisingly.

I like this Karluv Most shot even better than the one above, I would venture that this is probably my best, second best, or third best Prague shot on Facebook, and now you can see it here. :-)

This is one my favorite all-time Prague shots, taken, of course, on the Karluv Most. That's St. Vitus Cathedral and the Hradcany in the distance, of course.
Nuselsky Most, Picture 2, Nusle, Prague, CZ, 2007
08 Nov 2007 |
|
This is my first color photo of Nuselsky Most, the tallest bridge in Prague. It doesn't look it, but it's actually both a road and metro bridge, as that spine down the belly of it contains tracks for metro trains. Therefore...Graham! This one's for you. :-)
ex-CSD 498.022, Picture 2, Branik, Prague, CZ, 200…

|
This was at the time that 498.022 was back further on the bridge out of Branik, but I don't know exactly what order this one is in. I'm fairly certain that the previous shot was of it pulling out, and this was after it was stopped or nearly in place before heading back in.

I took this after I was able to get a bit closer to 498.022, basically by running at it as it moved.

I took this as 498.022 was pulling back into Nadrazi Branik as an unidentified 810 Class railbus was departing south.

This is a closer crop of Picture 2. I'll reiterate that these shots capture the feel of the Czech Republic's rail system exceptionally well, and indeed they remind me of some of the prettiest photos (and movies) shot here.
