Oil/electric Light on Ex-CSD #498.022, the "Albatr…

While I was taking some parting shots of #498.022, I noticed that the taillights and the headlights (really ditchlights in modern terms because of their position) appeared to have been converted at some point to electric power, or maybe they had been either oil or electric all along (that could also be a gas fitting, but it looks like oil to me, and railway lights more often were oil than gas in the old days). Therefore, I felt the need to take this photo. I originally marked this down as a headlight (which means ditchlight), but now that I'm thinking back on it I think this was one of the taillights, before it was extinguished (the train arrived in Branik with #498.022 running in reverse).

This was at the end of the trip at Branik, where the train terminated.

We disembarked at Branik, although our train was headed onwards to Hlavni Nadrazi. From here, we got the tram home.

Nadrazi Branik, in addition to being served by the various branchline services on its line, is also served by buses and trams. Here two unidentified Tatra T3 trams wait in the turning loop, waiting to work Service 16.

Here's another shot of the smoking coal stoves, only with the Nadrazi Branik station (nadrazi actually means "station" in Czech, so I'm using this incorrect terminology for the English speakers) building visible.

These vintage coaches, partly of wooden construction, would form the consist for the steam excursion to Krivoklat that I posted photos from a few months ago. I took these photos largely to illustrate their coal-fired heating stoves, as although they were built during World War II, they were about 70 years out of date even then, with these stoves for heating, as well as, usually, four-wheel wooden construction.

Here's an 810 Class railbus working another local at Branik, from the looks of it a southbound. The factory in the background is the Branik Pivovar, or brewery.

Local Train At Nadrazi Branik, Prague, CZ, 2007

Here's a typical local headed for either Dobris or Cercany (more likely the former) via Branik. The locomotive is, from the looks of it a Class 714 diesel, and the coaches are 010 Class four-wheel coaches based on the 810 Class railbus. The smoke coming from the coaches on the siding is from the coal heating stoves in them, as they are indeed vintage steam-era coaches.
