As of my visit, some of the tracks weren't out yet, and DPP's workers were still there in spite of it also being evening.

Nadrazi Hostivar is by definition a train station, but adjacent to it is a tram station of the same name. The two aren't directly connected, but if you cross a few streets seperating the stations, you can get there easily. On this particular day, October 2nd, the tracks were all getting ripped out and replaced, and as you can see, the standards are pretty high, as these discarded sections aren't in terrible shape.

Here's one of several shots that I took to commemorate the fact that I made it to Karlovo Namesti with my bike.

I think I had seen this advertising livery, for Komercni Banka, before, but on this occasion it really caught my eye and compelled me to take a photo.

This was the rather retro-looking interior of our 842 Class DMU. Ceske Drahy has a number of different DMU's, of both diesel-hydraulic and diesel electric classes. 842's are electric, although since this is the passenger compartment it isn't obvious.

Milin is another fair-sized station on the way to Cimelice.

Nadrazi Tochovice is styled very similarly to Milin, I'm assuming because they must be built to a standardized design.

This was a trip that I took with some friends, combining trains and buses. On the first leg, to Cimelice, I shot some photos of the stations as we travelled further and further into the countryside, towards the Brdy region and the mining country around Pribram. This station, amazingly, appeared to be staffed.

This photo was almost wrecked by a reflection on the train window, but I was able to salvage it by converting it to black and white.

Yes, they really exist. :-)

Here you can see the size of the cranes being used to build the new station facilities at Cercany, which appear really to be overkill given the small size of most of what's being built. Nevertheless, the reason I posted this shot is that I like how the locomotive, CD #363117-3, looks.

In spite of the preservation of the old Nadrazi Cercany, this all-new station building has also been constructed to the south. I don't know if it's supposed to be a freight station, but I do note that it has freight doors (out of sight to the right). It's already in use, with CD staff coming and going quite busily.

In addition to the canopies and the passenger subway, another improvement to Nadrazi Cercany has been the introduction of on-platform digital trainboards. This one is listing my local to Prague, via Strancice, on the main.

Back in Cercany again, I got a shot of Kolej 3, which apparently has been laid will all-new rail (it's not even completely rusted if you look carefully) and all new concrete ties, although the previous ties were concrete ones of the same design. The clamps also look to be the same, or at least similar, but the overall effect of this new construction is that you get a much, much nicer ride.

This actually wasn't an all-autorack train, but a manifest with a lot of autoracks in it. I really took this shot for the locomotive, though, even if the cameraphone is too low resolution to get the number. I've been really surprised at the extent to which older locomotives have been kept running by the new CD Cargo business segment, and Hostivar isn't a bad place to see them in action. I've even seen Class 120 and 122 electrics from the 1950's.

Here you can get a better view of the autoracks. Surprisingly, in spite of rampant grafitti on Ceske Drahy, no attempt has been made to introduce modern auto carriers with sides and rooves. In the United States, these old style autoracks haven't been seen since the 1970's.

Here's my second shot of the Class 130, as it continued on by at about 60Km/h (I think).

I'm not sure of what the lead unit on this work train is, as it's purpose is far from clear, with no obvious built-in tools. Is it a track geometry car? That might explain the coach, which would make a decent mobile computer lab.
