Here's an alternate to Picture 1. I like the sky in this one a lot better, and the colors, even with post processing, aren't as good on Picture 1 as they are on this one.

Here's a shot of the road back into Josefuv Dul as me and my travelling companions finally made it back to our lodgings. I've taken photos in the town centre of Josefuv Dul before, of course, and it's generally a pretty town, so I always find something to shoot.

Well...there's no snow....but that's not global warming, not this time. We took this hike in June of 2007!

I had to ask a flatmate what this is, but I appears to be a species of clover called a "Jetel Plazivy" in Czech. The nearest thing I could find in Wikipedia in English seemed to be a "Red Clover," but I don't know if that's what this is. In any case, I was more taking the photo for the bees. :-)

I really liked the way the sun was illuminating the trees, buildings and so on with the sky in this spectacular a state, so I had to get this shot....even if many other photographers on Flickr could beat this easily. :-)

In this picture, shot a little bit further down the trail, you can see Jablonec (or at least that's what my Czech travelling companions said), and further away, Liberec. That antenna up on the mountain isn't actually an antenna at all, but the famous Hotel Jested, perhaps the most unique hotel design ever. Here's their website if you want a closer look, as this was the closest I got: www.jested.cz/hotel/en/index_n.php I do have the goal of getting there to take a closer photo sometime, but on my most recent, and so far only, Liberec trip I never got to it.

This was taken as we hiked onwards from the Prezidentska Chata, hoping to end up back in the Josefuv Dul town centre eventually. Actually, we hiked through several towns, but Josefuv Dul was the focal point.

One of the attractions at the Prezidentska Chata is horseback riding, and this is one of their horses. I don't know the breed, though, so that would be a helpful bit of information if you know anything about horses.

Now a restaurant and hotel, this chateau used to be the Presidential Chateau (sometimes considered to be, in reality, a Chalet) of the Czechoslovak Republic, hence the name. Its prior existence, however, was a long time ago, being in the days of President Jan Masaryk, in the 1920s, so it hasn't been used by the President of the Republic in a very long time.

This is the Josefuv Dul reservior, which is also right in the middle of an area where many people hike, which is why we were there. Getting a look at this impressive bit of "socialist engineering" was worth it as a side trip at least.

I apologize for the vague title, but I don't know the name of this church. It's in Josefuv Dul, a small town in Liberecky Kraj, Bohemia, and was recently refurbished. The way that you can tell is that it's not vandalised yet. :-)

I wanted the photograph the whole school, and I did, but I had a lot of trouble getting the right angle AND the right light. This shot came out okay, though.

Actually, this is just Picture 1 converted to black and white. I wanted to try both.

Josefuv Dul has an old hotel that appears to be in rough shape. I don't know if it's still open for business or not, but the missing windows aren't a good sign.

This was a landscape that I attempted from one of the mountains (hills?) surrounding Josefuv Dul. The sun was setting, illuminating the church and village, although in this shot the church is of course dominant and center.

I noticed the setting sun casting shadows on the old hotel in Josefuv Dul, so I figured it would make a decent photo. I hope you like it. :-)
