Old Train in Chur Station, Chur, Plessur District,…

This was the only photo that I took on the way to Zurich, as far as I know, as we were leaving Chur. There seems to be a train made up of various mismatched heritage equipment on the other side of the platform. Unfortunately, I don't know very much about it.

Here are some older coaches again. These ones have 1890's-style closed platforms, depressed a bit from the rest of the carbodies, but in all likelihood these are of much more recent vintage.

I know even less about these passenger cars, although I'm assuming the red and cream ones are designed for use with Class M262 DMU's. The blue and cream passenger car is an MOW unit, almost certainly a camp car (notice the curtains).

Ceske Drahy inherited a fleet of Russian bi-level coaches from Ceskoslovenske Drahy, and these are still in service, if old (see my picture of Tynec yard). They're cramped, dirty, somewhat rundown, and very hot in the summer, though, so they're far from ideal, even if the view from the upper deck is cool. Ceske Drahy must have been thinking of this, as well as the better passenger capacity in proportion to tare, when they ordered their fleet of bi-level EMUs, Classes 471 and 971, from a consortium of CKD and Skoda in the late 1990s. The oldest of these is already 10 years old, but surprisingly, they've been kept up enough so that they still seem relatively new. The upper deck is the best part, though. :-) I took this on the way to Karlstejn.

Here's a shot of train #R641 for Ceske Budejovice, waiting for it's locomotive at Praha Hlavni Nadrazi. There are so many coaches on to accomodate unexpected ski traffic that you can't see to the end!!!
Platform 2, Praha Hlavni Nadrazi, Prague, CZ, 2007

Although the station has too many tracks for it to cover all of them, the inner platforms of Hlavni Nadrazi have a fair-sized train shed.
