Here's the St. Pancras trainshed, constructed in 1867 (although the station didn't open until 1868).

Here's the platform trainboard after I took EC379 back to Prague. As you can see, the restoration work done on Hlavni Nadrazi recently has made the Prague trainshed easy to confuse with the Dresden one.

This was one of my next shots, giving a view of the trainshed and platforms in Koln Hbf very early in the morning. It was still dark, as you can see. The 401 Class ICE in the next platform wasn't my next train, but I would take an ICE next, to Bruxelles-Midi.

Here's a shot that I like better than Picture 5, although I chose to upload both anyway.

Here's a lucky shot that I got of my ICE (the one my friend was impressed by) pulling in.

The steam-era beauty of Frankfurt Hbf is to be seen everywhere, even in little details like this clock. More impressive is that this station survived World War II, although I'm sure it had to have been rebuilt (I don't know all the history of that).

I first got to see Frankfurt's impressive Hauptbahnhof in 1998, and it still looks more or less the same. It naturally hosts a lot of ICE's and other express trains, so it's fun to watch trains here. The trainshed is also spectacular.
Hlavni Nadrazi Construction, Prague, CZ, 2008

In 2008, Hlavni Nadrazi was undergoing a long and thorough renovation, which was already several months old, and continues as I write this a year later. When I took this, the tracks under the trainshed were being rebuilt, and most of this work is done now, the project having shifted to the station building. In 2007, the trainshed still looked almost steam-era, today it looks almost modern, although many of the historic features, like the trainshed itself, have been retained.

Canopy, Praha Masarykovo Nadrazi, Prague, CZ, 2006

I call this a "canopy" for want of a better word. I'm really not clear on what else I could call it. It's not a trainshed, in the traditional sense, because the trains pull up to a waiting area covered by it, but don't go under it. It's also too lightly constructed to really be considered completely a part of the Masarykovo station building, and indeed it isn't original, if you look at old prints from the 1840s.
Praha Hlavni Nadrazi, Prague, CZ, 2005(?)

I don't remember exactly when I took this, but I'm fairly certain it was in late 2005. One way or another, it's one of my better shots of Hlavni Nadrazi, the main train station for Prague, with a little bit of the "Sherwood Forest" yard. If you need to ask why it's called that, you don't want to know. The locomotive doing switching is, if I'm not mistaken, a CD Class 111 electric.

Jumping way ahead in my trip, since I took few photographs during the night, this is after I arrived in London Paddington, after having arrived in Brussels, changed to the Eurostar, arrived at London Waterloo, and taken the Underground to Paddington. At this point, I finally had enough light, in other words, to shoot handheld. I've always loved the way the trains at Paddington, which are nearly always high performance in looks as well as reality, look so great when lined up and read to go! :-)

Although the station has too many tracks for it to cover all of them, the inner platforms of Hlavni Nadrazi have a fair-sized train shed.
